Marullus wrote:Rations:
Right, he slept a lot. Just keep all your preserved rations, +2 honey. Assume you ate what you could and discard all fresh rations at this juncture. Then you're fine.
Same goes for everyone else, unless you began with less than 7 fresh rations. You found enough en-route and had Ablesforth's extras, so I think it is fair to say that the same math applies to everyone even if someone was a little short.
Treasure:
Please record the actual coins, as you're still travelling.
Rhybek: Donated 4gp, took Emerald. (net 96gp value)
Idriss: 10gp, 4sp 3cp, three scrolls.
Fingers, Silent, Neegan, Ablesforth: 83gp, 21sp, 90cp (19.4lbs coin each)
Rhybek takes the gem with a dwarfy glint in his eye while Idriss is content with his scrolls and a few coins in his pocket. Even though Ablesforth offers to forgo having a share of the treasure, the others offer it to him anyway, dividing the coin evenly among the four of them. Each fills a small sack to the brim with their gains and it is evenly divided. (The dwarves have plenty of extra small sacks around as they unpack building supplies, parting with four isn't an issue for them.)
Silent takes his share and smiles, pleased with a sack of coin and to still be alive after encountering giants, dragons, baboons, kobold traps, and discovering a lost city. He heads out down the trail back to Gaul.
The extra sack of coins weigh down Fingers, Neegan, and Ablesforth - this will slow the group from 3/4 movement to half movement unless they continue to allow Rhybek's mule to transport them. It is assumed this is done, with each knowing which sack is theirs for later inventory.

What was our travel rate getting here? If we can go faster by not divvying up copper, let's do that. Fingers isn't going to lug a nine-pound bag of copper around anyway. Is there anything to be bought here?
Re: Fingers: The Kobold Tower: Part II - 13 June 2021
You've been moving at 3/4 speed with Rhybek's mule carrying all coin. Nothing to be bought here because it is still under construction. In the future, that'll be dependent on PC action, as this location is property of Clay Weatherwax. There will be NPCs to interact with at the Gus's Crossroads location in the winter/spring.Zhym wrote:What was our travel rate getting here? Re: Fingers: The Kobold Tower: Part II - 13 June 2021
You set out about 8:00am, having had breakfast and divvied your coin. Craige the mule continues to bear your burdens allowing you to move easily over the flat plains. Both yesterday and today you note that the plains are perhaps "too flat" here - you remember that Gus the farmer noted that they were once plowed but now long fallow, hence his excitement to restore the longhouses and establish a farmstead.
Shortly after leaving Beith's Watch, you do indeed notice the small rise as you pass it just to your west - the low foundation stones of a cluster of longhouses now designated in the ArchDuke's maps as the site of what will be Gus's farmstead.
A little while later you see the large striped bodies of the killer bees meandering over the field, as mentioned to you by Clay Weatherwax. After your misadventures with the flies, you have little desire to seek confrontation with their poisonous, lethal cousins. They are easily avoided.
Finally, you see an ancient stone tower, thousands of years old - of age with the earlier foundations - and in disrepair, tumble-down stonework dispelling any intimidation it might provide. Most of the roof remains intact, repaired within the past few decades at least, and smoke rises from the chimney into the gloomy, overcast sky.
You pause about 200 yards out, ten kobolds about their business on the grounds a 100 yards from you. They apparently saw you from some distance out on the plains, but they seem utterly unconcerned. Three kobolds glance over disinterestedly at you, chattering to each other. Five dig at the ground with their hands or small spades around the tower, pulling large lumps from the soil. You assume they might be farming except that you see nothing resembling organized furrows or rows, just the swaying of weeds and grasses in the breeze much like the surrounding fields. One kobold lies on a pile of timber, listless, while another kicks him repeatedly, yelling at him.

Rhybek Baerdrum
Keeping weapons stowed and hands held out, palms up, in front of him in a gesture of peace, Rhybek steps forward and closes the space with the kobolds.
Once he is within "loud voice" distance, he tries to converse with them in koboldish.
{kobold}"Greetings, tower-dwellers. How goes your day's work? What... what do you farm here?"{/kobold}

Re: Fingers: The Kobold Tower: Part II - 13 June 2021
Ablesforth will send his share of the treasure back to Gaul with Silent with written instructions. 50gp (or whatever the minimum amount is) goes to the bard, who will sing of his brave companions who watched over him as he lay injured, as well as the baboons, giants, dragons and terrible flies they faced at the lost city.
The rest is to be donated to the Infirmary, and anyone who wants to offload their copper and silver for 3gp, go ahead. Silent can lug the weight, I suppose.
Marullus, was the any way to hire a dwarf or a guard from Beith's Watch? We'll be missing Silent, I expect.
Ablesforth squints to see the dog-men better. He spits in disgust, whispering, Ugly beasts, ain't they? We sure these things ain't abominations?

Idriss
"Kobolds are notoriously deceptive, I would be wary of more dog-men, hidden in the tall grasses." the Templar whispers leaning on his staff. The listless kobold, does he look ill or just lazy?

The Bard's fee is 100gp, so you're halfway there.
All the dwarves and guards at Beith's Watch are currently being paid by Clay Weatherwax and so are not available for hire by Ablesforth.
The listless kobold looks impaired, possibly drunk.
Rhybek approaches one of the creatures grubbing in the dirt. The scrawny, bruised creature looks the dwarf over dubiously for a moment then shrugs.

The kobold gives a wide, canine grin showing all its rows of pointy teeth... You aren't convinced if it is friendly.

The kobold cackles with a chittering laugh, finding the dwarf's observations humorous. He replies with a single word:
Glancing around, the others notice that the remaining Kobolds no longer look as distracted and uninterested. They're a bit closer. They're a bit more around and behind you.

Ablesforth gets edgy as the dog-faced goblins encircle the group. Rhybek, you seem to be friendly with that one. The rest look to be eyeing us. Mind lettin' the rest of us know what it is your all on about? Able grasps his holy symbol tightly while looking for signs about possible reinforcements for this lot.
About 8 or 9 then, correct? What weaponry do they have?

Rhybek
Rhybek glances around to take a quick count of the kobolds and see what arms they have, then looks back at the group and shakes his head to indicate negotiations have failed. He keeps walking towards the one he is talking to, though, and keeps his voice calm.

When the group spots the kobolds, Fingers and Sprinkles hang back. Fingers keeps his bow in hand. When kobolds approach, Fingers backs away to avoid being surrounded but keeps the creatures in bow range. He'll also edge towards the woods if possible.
Re: Fingers: The Kobold Tower: Part II - 13 June 2021
The ten kobolds' eyes now shine with anticipation, though the inebriated one still looks a bit confused. The runty one replies to Rhybek, still grinning.
Rhybek and Neegan:
The crude weapons in the kobold's hands - rough stone hammers, sharpened spears, and long knives akin to short swords - make it clear that they intend to take you to their leader as captives, not allies. Fingers, ever wary, has hung back about 50' and has his bow ready. Rhybek is about 30' ahead of the group, where he was conversing. Neegan, Ablesforth, and Idriss are roughly grouped as a central clump. The size and activity level of the tower imply there are considerably more reinforcements within. The forest wraps around the tower's land, but on the far side - the massive wood is about 300' beyond the tower to north, northwest, northeast, and east -- a place you might consider fleeing to but much to far to back up to for safety.
The kobolds begin their rush at you - three charging Rhybek, two charging Fingers with spears, and five coming at the main group, yipping to each other excitedly in their tongue and alerting those in the tower.
Action and initiative!

Rhybek Braeburn
Rhybek goes straight for the kobold he was speaking with, swinging his battle axe at the creature's head...
Battle Axe [1d20+1] = 13+1 = 14 Damage [1d8+1] = 1+1 = 2

Seeing the fighting begin, Ablesforth launches an ill-timed assault at the kobolds.
"Persuader" [1d20+2] = 4+2 = 6, dmg [1d8+2] = 2+2 = 4
