"Poking our heads into the other building sort of misses the point of my 'screw it, let's get out of here' plan," grouses Fingers, "but whatever."

He takes a turn listening at the door, then stands well back with Silmaril at the ready.

The group cautiously approaches the last shed, which has the most well-worn trail leading around to it. They listen, hearing nothing, then fling open the door. Inside they find the kobolds shovels, hoes, and gardening tools. Searching thoroughly there is nothing of particular value - it is well used for storage.

Having cataloged (and avoided) the various dangers, the group is ready to depart once they decide what they can haul. (Eight miles back to Beith's Watch at 1/4 speed is 16 hours.)

Treasures so far:
  • 500lbs of bronze winching equipment (left in pavilion)
  • 400lb cube of silver (left in pavilion)
  • A copper disc-shaped amulet with a green patina hung from a golden chain
  • A wizard scroll
  • 277 copper coins
  • 700 silver coins
  • An elf scroll
  • A scroll of Ward vs Undead
  • An elven cloak
  • A dwarven handaxe
  • Headdress of the Kobold Chief: The headdress is made of red-black chicken-like feathers, but much larger in their size.
  • 10 empty barrels
  • 6 barrels of salt fish
  • 10 human roundshields
  • 20 kobold spears
  • 20 leather slings
  • Map to Zavarra
  • Sigil on a thong
  • 4 crates of silver candlesticks (400lbs)
Date: 10:30am, 16 June 2021
Light: Sun
Distance travelled: none
Weather: 48F, Winds 12-19 NE, steady rain
Spell Effects: None
Injuries: Idriss (moderate injury), Neegan (mild injury)

What's our rough weight limit to travel at full, half, and quarter speed? Is there enough stuff around to build a sledge? Or have we seen a cart?

For reference, here's a breakdown of the loot by value/weight:

Worth more than its weight in silver:
  • A wizard scroll
  • An elf scroll
  • A scroll of Ward vs Undead
  • An elven cloak
  • A dwarven handaxe
  • A copper disc-shaped amulet with a green patina hung from a golden chain
  • Headdress of the Kobold Chief: The headdress is made of red-black chicken-like feathers, but much larger in their size.
  • 20 leather slings
  • Map to Zavarra
  • Sigil on a thong

Worth its weight in silver (1 gp/lb):
  • 700 silver coins (70 gp)
  • 4 crates of silver candlesticks (400lbs) (400 gp?)
  • 400lb cube of silver (left in pavilion) (400 gp?)

Probably worth less than its weight in silver:
  • 6 barrels of salt fish (0.67 gp/lb)
  • 10 human roundshields (0.5 gp/lb, used)
  • 20 kobold spears (0.25 gp/lb, used)
  • 277 copper coins (0.1 gp/lb)
  • 500lbs of bronze winching equipment (left in pavilion)
  • 10 empty barrels (0.025 gp/lb)

I'd suggest we take everything that's worth more than its weight in silver, then load up on silver until we're at our limit for half-rate movement, if possible. If we have room left over, we can add the salt fish and spears.

Marullus, what's the relative value of bronze? Do we have any idea what the winches might bring?

Edit: Added value of silver items.

OOC: the bronze winch equipment may possibly be useful to another PC who is developing a lumber mill... I'm looking at Spearmint's Blackjack character here.

Worth hauling back ourselves? Maybe not. But maybe he'd be willing to pay some coin for the information and if anyone wants to go with him as guards to assist with retrieving it, he might pay a per diem. But that's all up to him, of course.

Just tossing out that idea.

Maurullus, that option might be made sweeter for Blackjack if there was some metric for increased productivity (as in generation of a steady source of income) because of the bronze winch equipment in use at the lumber mill? ;)

Encumbrance rules here so you can figure your math: viewtopic.php?f=353&t=5467&start=20#p245719

Bronze is worth twice as much as copper, by weight.

The winches might be worth more to Blackjack, who can use them. That's an IC deal to make. (It will help his Mill's production.)

Have we seen any carts? Can we make a sledge?

My impulse is to say screw the silver and get back to town. The candlesticks and the block of silver are worth a total of 800 gp in theory, but we'd have to deal with finding a buyer or melting them down and blah blah blah, and that's assuming we have some way to drag 800 lbs of silver back to town. Maybe we could travel back light and come back with some horses and carts.

Or, like I said, we say screw it and just go. We scored enough in magic items to make it a worthwhile trip.

It isn't a problem to make sledges given time. If you leave at dawn, you can spend today getting ready without issue. If you skip the sledges you can leave immediately. (A cart isn't more helpful as there isn't a road.)

The ursurer takes any metal by volume. You only need to worry about buyers for objects d'art.

We couldn't move the 400lb silver block anyway because the sledge limit is 320lbs per person, right?

Ablesforth is clear that he doesn't care about the money aside from it's value to the local peasants. That silver'll buy a lot of medicines for the Infirm'ry. And the fish is good food. I think it's worth the effort to bring back. Maybe leave some at that druid's place for the dwarf and guards, even. Won't be too hard to make a sledge from these sheds. Mebbe a day, which I could use t'heal folks.

If we don't take the other items, how do you propose splitting the loot? That cloak is worth a lot. How would anyone compensate the others?

We've got pack animal for hauling the block.

The dwarven axe, headdress, the amulet, and the scrolls are also magical. We may have enough magic for everyone to get roughly equal value in magic items.

I didn't realize we had a pack animal. Okay, we'll make a sledge and leave at dawn.

As the group waits for dawn to leave, Fingers takes a close look at the headdress. Do the feathers resemble those on the chicken-lizard outside?

"Whaddya think this does?" he asks the others.

Well that's interesting.

And we didn't see any remarkably detailed stone statues of people or kobolds near the golden-egg-laying chicken lizard, right?

OOC: Yeah, we can put the silver block on Craige the mule and then sledge the rest. It would be a long day, but if we leave at dawn, we could make it back at least to the druid's place before nightfall.

The dwarven axe is a hand axe with no powers other than the +1 (or at least nothing else has been revealed yet). We don't yet know what the copper amulet does or the feathered headdress. I assume someone could try the headdress on and find out! Maybe it does something to boost charisma or leadership? It was on the kobold leader, after all.

We should definitely take the four crates of candlesticks et al and the silver block. As long as we're going a slower pace with sledges, most of us should have a sledge to pull. Maximize our effort.

Hard to imagine how a feathered headdress could boost a character's CHA.

Able does what he can to help make sledges able to haul such heavy loads, and then to load them for transport in the morning.

Rhybek works on preparing Craige's pack harness for handling the 400lb block of silver, then helps make sledges for the two-legged pack animals to use.

Fingers dips a tip of one finger into one of the potions and touches it to the tip of his tongue.

This post mentioned two potions:

"So, what now? Drag all this silver back to town? Or are there other buildings we haven't checked yet?"
I'll look at this stuff - and anything else we find - for magic t'morra. I never had the chance to let y'ins know that the head dress is magical, but I don't know how. That handaxe Rhybek grabbed up is magic, too. And the cloak and all o'them scrolls and them potions too. And the copper disc amulet.

This information came via a PM after we had opened the shed. I just remembered that I hadn't passed the information along. Can't wait to see what that headdress might offer - will it ever be worth walking around with a feathered headdress on?

Ablesforth would be carrying the undead scroll with him as we explore the grounds.

Kobold headdress: imbued item, 2001xp
Dwarven handaxe: imbued item, 4001xp
Elven Cloak: created item (elven, nature idioms)
Elven scroll: created item
Ward vs Undead scroll: created item (positive material idiom)
A copper disc-shaped amulet with a green patina hung from a golden chain: created item (Secrets, structure of ideal forms idioms)
Wizard Scroll (from pavilion): Created item
Wizard Scroll (from cave): Created item
Two potions: Created item, same type
Can't remember when we got them, though.

Fingers looks over the two potions rescued from the remains of victims in the giant flies cave back when you were near the City. Taking a sip, he finds he feels a bit more hale.

Two potions of healing.
