Nobody said anything about virgins. Just Maidens. It isn't always fair to assume that unmarried and virgin go together. :)

We find a portal to hell, or sells their souls to a demon, or releases a dragon, or a TPK, or gives a goblin the ability to raise the dead, or leaves a pair of baby dragons blind, thereby pissing of their mommy dragon, or...

Damn. This sandbox is treacherous.
...this makes me warm and happy inside. :)

To be fair, there was only ONE true TPK so far. They lost half the party fighting a single zombie and the last two PCs were then killed by a single goblin armed only with a paperweight and a brass chamberpot. I can't blame the dungeon for being too hard, honestly. ;)

Just looked it up and see you're right. My confusion must come from the alternate definition of maiden which is a first attempt.
That and the term "maidenhead," which is the the hymen.

And because it reminded me, here is a sing from 1933: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tiK7gjXc8TA

to me a maiden is a horse which has yet to win. I have had many maidens to grace my stables unfortunately though Sweet Siouxie is not one of them.

Would gladly sacrifice dumb jockeys though who fall off at the first fence! I mean, not even get in a clear round of jumping, Talking about entering a handicap, with some pikeys' you are destined to fail before you even get out the stalls!.

C'mon Tilly Devine in the 20.15 at Chelmsford, bottom weight with an outside stall, will have plenty of work to do but if racing off out of trouble and off the pace may come with a big finish. Would be happy with coming in the frame (first three) but up against some other top stables.

updated...shoot the jockey!!! Led to halfway then got ridden and lost pace and places to finish maybe 20 lengths adrift!

"Maiden" also has a definition meaning "virgin." See the Oxford English Dictionary, definition 2, for example ("A virgin; spec. the Virgin Mary (see also maiden Mary n. at Compounds 2). (Not always clearly distinguishable from senses A. 1a, A. 3.) Cf. maid n.1 1a. Now rare."), or Webster's Online ("An unmarried woman; a girl or woman who has not experienced sexual intercourse; a virgin; a maid.").

Besides—what would a dragon care about its snack's marital status?

... or sexual habits, for that matter.
Dragon foot. Bamboo pole. Little mouse. Tiny boy.

Dragons are well-known prudes who think sexual purity equates to better flavor.

can you update the timeline forum. I am getting a bit confused as to who is where when and also what knowledge they would have at what time. Such as discovery of Potions like the Tolls growth one or if folk knew of other dragons at what point?

Yeah, I just created the thread because I do recognize the need. If anyone can help compile it, I appreciate the help. If someone could go through the whole Golden Tooth Tavern thread and pull out all the event dates, we should put all expedition departures/arrivals (preferably with links) on it. There's only a few (more recent) foibles to then add - mostly from the EVENT threads.
Such as discovery of Potions like the Tolls growth one or if folk knew of other dragons at what point?
That's personal character knowledge, so won't appear on the timeline, I fear. Though, knowing when the expeditions are (and when they return with knowledge they discovered) should help.

If characters don't share the knowledge IC, then nobody else knows it, though. That's why I emphasize Expedition Tributes that provide relevant facts into the general knowledge. Foxy's quest found the names of three dragons, but except for Scatha, nobody said anything. Nobody else knows that the other two dragons are named, or exist.

Out of curiosity, what is the punishment if Bremen is found guilty of making deals with an infernal creature?

Do they just kill him and send him to the afterlife, wherever he might be spending that? Or does he go into a 12 step program?

It depends what is found in the trial.

My preference is to keep PCs alive when I can.

If he's sent to the dungeons I'd like to see some players plan a Great Escape.

Bremen and...um...yeah, that's about it. :D

I wonder if the archbishop is of high enough level to put a geas on Bremen.

You usually don't see that kind of behavior outside of someone trying to role-play really low charisma. ;)
