"He's mad," says Carchannoi. "A worthless slave. Let him run off."

The goblins and their mounts grow visibly more excited, closing incrementally as they wait for Tyrrell to run so they can give chase.

Pausing for Tyrrell.

Tyrrell

Stands his ground going nose to nose with the fetid breathed warg. He does not flinch or cower or run. "I am here by the auspicious wishes of the Archduke of Gaul, to secure and negotiate a bond of gold in exchange for safe passage for merchant caravans and settlers upon the Dukes' Highway."Tyrrell quotes from the Dukes edict: Reward: For the action leading to the total cessation of hostilities, securing the free passage of caravans without fear of the threat."and to assist Elder Charchannoi here with Guhras' problem with usurpers to her claim on the land.".

Tyrrell steps closer to the goblin rider, "I do not run, I march, forward only. You can possibly walk behind me,". With a flick of his wrist, Tyrrell casts Command upon the goblin rider, uttering the word, "Lupicide."

'Lupicide' is a noun, so cannot serve as a command. Commands by definition should be imperative case verbs. :) You could do something like 'Your wolf is in my face. Kill it.' I am not a jerk enough as a DM to substitute a simple direct object on purpose. So, we'll proceed with your intent and you can adjust grammar next time. ;)

Without hesitation, the goblin pulls a wicked-looking long knife from its sheath and plunges it downward at the Wolf's shoulder. The wolf lurches to the side, throwing it's rider as he misses his strike and snarling at him fiercely.

The goblin hops back to its feet from where it landed on the grasses, eyes narrowing at Tyrrell, but considerably more cowed.

"Fine," it says, brushing the dirt off, it's knife held up defensively as it turns deliberately back to address Carchannoi. "We take you and the emissary to Guhra. Keep your other slaves in line."

The goblin riders turn their wargs towards the tower and lead you on towards it. You arrive shortly after dark, the lights and noise of the tower showing it is quite full and active.

Actions before you enter.

Gaeron resumes feigning incarceration, though he throws a hard look in Tyrell's direction as he steps in line and trudges his way towards the tower. He slows his pace enough to put himself at the back of the group where he can keep an eye out. He mutters something about "insufferable priests" but otherwise keeps to himself as they walk.

Dorath affects a slight limp so as to make the staff look more like a crutch than a weapon. He falls in behind Tyrrell as he clearly doesn't want it the other way around.

You proceed on with wolf rider escort towards the tower. It is clearly of dwarves construction - solidly built and without decay, though the patina of stones and lichen shows that at least a dozen, maybe two, centuries have passed since it's construction. You are led in and up a central stair, curiosity in the eyes you pass - at least two dozen goblins, just that you saw living and working on the lower floors. You arrive at the top floor, which is draped with purple southern linens, draped like wall-hangings. Guhra is a fierce, intelligent-looking female goblin with a feathered headdress. She has a bloodstone amulet prominently displayed over her chainmail, a large warg lying next to her on the fireplace hearth. A dozen capable looking warriors stand around the room, none pleased to see any of you. She lounges in a solid chair suited for a dwarf and almost her size and gives a disinterested, slightly annoyed look at the group."Elf. They say you bring an emissary to me, to ask that we no longer eat our fine foods or take our fine goods. Why do you bother me with this?"

Tyrrell

Enters the chamber and removes his helmet, clicking his boot heels together and nodding his head in a salute bow to this chieftess goblin.

He says nothing though, standing by Charchannoi and waits for him to make his reply if any.

"My lady," says Carchannoi, "I make no such request. I have come with my slaves to aid you in ransacking the hell-pits. That is all."

Guhra sits a long moment, rubbing her amulet between her fingers and looking between them. (If Tyrrell interjects after Carchannoi's compliment, say so.)

"Fine," Guhra says dismissively. "They will take you below and let you descend. I hope more of your slaves return alive, this time. Tog awaits your return - she'll meet you at the hatch."

Guhra falls silent; if there's no more words from you, your goblin minders (with their short spears) escort you out of the chamber and back down the stairwell.

Tyrrell

Dismissed, Tyrrell nods formally again. "Thank you Chieftess Guhra. My assistance was promised to Charchannoi to bring you did and goodwill. Perhaps when these pits are cleansed our audience may continue with formal matters at hand."

Tyrrell leaves taking a place behind Charchannoi, trying to follow and make mental notes of the goblin strengths.

If we get a private moment free of goblin guards, Tyrrell will ask what Charchannoi knows of these hellpits, does he have a map and what should we expect? The slaves you lost, were they ogres?

Dorath

Dorath falls in behind Charchannoi as the party is led away. Always making sure he can see Tyrrell out of the corner of his eye.

Gaeron resumes his position at the back of the group, the sullen look on his face not so much an act anymore.

Carchannoi says: "A crude map. And no, my lost slaves were not ogres. As for what to expect: apparently wizards inhabited the place some time ago, built it in fact."

You are pushed-escorted down the spiral staircase at the center of the tower to the bottom level. A heavy iron door is unbolted in the floor, the spears behind you prompting your rapid descent down the ropes into the hole.

You land on the heaps of trash that lie below the trap door. It appears the goblins throw everything they don't want or understand down this hole, then keep it bolted. This room is about 50 feet by 40 feet, with four doors; the stonework is utilitarian but of fine workmanship - the clear handiwork of dwarves. There is a solid stone door in the center of the south wall. There is an iron door on the east wall, left of center (20 feet from the north wall). There is a wooden door on the north wall, left of center: it is shattered by heavy blows, then propped back in place by scrap-wood beams. A simple wooden door - the only one without a visible lock, is on the west wall, all the way in the south corner.

A dead goblin lies in the middle of the room, perhaps a week old. Its mortified flesh chewed and eaten, most of the fingers missing and hunks from elsewhere.

Light Source: The trapdoor above... for now.

Tyrrell

Will put his plumed helm on, looking up at the grinning goblins above. Taking his duffelbag backpack it has a few supplies in, one being a lantern which he will light and hold it aloft to shine around the room and get his bearings.

"After you," he says presuming Charchannoi knows 'the way'.

Dorath

Dorath brushes off his clothes and makes sure that his spell book is still in good order.

To Charchannoi

"Well this is a lovely place you've taken us to. Any reason as to why you couldn't have given us just the teensy bit of a heads up on the whole 'slave' thing. If only so that 'Lord Reverend Tactless' here wouldn't have tried to get us killed before we barely got started?

"I thought you'd be fine with it," says Carchannoi. "I wouldn't mind, myself, and everyone knows how bloated is the ego of an elf! Beyond the north door, you'll find a shadow. I concluded my last expedition fleeing from it. Do you want to face it, or go elsewhere?"
