Guess what I found on the internet last night? A free CoC 5.6 pdf!

I don't want to share anything I'm not supposed to on this site, but I googled "Call of Cthulhu 5th edition pdf" and it was the top link. Just only read the Player's section.

Has anyone checked this game out?

The Cthulhu Hack

It's based off The Black Hack, which is a pretty elegant little OSR system.

There's just not enough B/X in my life. I even made a point of not examining the OPD you posted, in case it became the basis for a future campaign.
I'm hoping while I'm in Atlanta to focus on writing more of the Desecrated Graveyard adventure. It has gone beyond the point where it can be played in a 4 hour convention slot, which is partly unfortunate because that's what I designed it for originally, but it does mean the final playtest before publication might well be a play-by-post here.

I also want to get started on a higher level B/X adventure tentatively titled The Dragon's Lost Treasure.
Time in the hotel room after work, ha ha ha! I was dreaming ...

It's the 20s! You could smoke in the middle of surgery!

Not all that long ago, you could smoke in the hospital still. When I started it was no longer allowed but I work with people who were around when the OR lounge would be filled with a cloud of smoke.
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

I was used to the majority of hospital worker smokers being respiratory therapists.

No worries. I was thinking more along the lines of flammability than social anything. Fire around dry newspapers seemed like a bad idea.

Hi all, Memorial Day weekend is upon us! I'm taking the family up to North Conway New Hampshire to visit the Storyland theme park. We'll start the adventure out to Ross' Corners next week.

I'll be out of town until Sunday. Please NPC Dr. Pale. And good luck! Don't go staring at any invisible whistling octopodes!

Sorry guys, my brain's been on vacation mode as far as rpgs are concerned. I'll get back to our game soon, sorry! Happens to me every spring.

I am definitely itching to get back to the game; I just haven't had the time recently. I hope to get us back on track soon.

No worries. Thanks for the update!

It's odd—of the way-too-many games I'm in, all but one are GM-in-absentia, right now. I think I lot of people are having busy summers.

Anyway, take your time, and know that we're expecting your brain to be brimming with a backlog of horrible things when you get back.

I will need to bow out gracefully from the game. You may do with the Hyacinth character as you wish (make an example of her). Thank you for the opportunity, ken-do-nim, and I wish your game the best.

Yeah, that's what happens when I let the game stagnate. Thanks for being classy about it. To everyone else, thanks for sticking with me. Every year my rpg life slows to a crawl in the summer; I guarantee we'll pick back up with a vengeance in September.

And let me go get the show back on the road!

Guess where I am posting from ... I am at terminal E of Logan Airport, preparing for an 8 day journey to Italy. Normally this is where people say they will be unavailable during their vacation, but I'm actually hoping for the opposite.
