Hex voted for closet 9 if it's comfortable. It's a group decision though so what do we all think?

Wil likes 8 so that we can fall back to 9 if pressed.

Kragg doesn't care what room the group goes to.

9 sounds good then.

The elf will put the precautions mentioned before into place, telling the others about them so any roving sentry/explorer in the group will know to sidestep it. (a path against the wall can be kept bare for passage through the antechamber if need be)

Wil can take a first watch as needed. He'll ensure his guard pacing does not interfere in the erasing of tracks that was wisely down before entering the hideout.

Sorry, ravenn4544, I missed your post. I like your logic. I'm fine with either choice.

The group will set up a defensive camp in room 8 though 9 is prepared to move to and quickly blockade if needed.

The elf will skip watch if enough others can fill the time slots in order to more fully rest and recuperate. If all hands are needed then he will watch a term as well.

Hex will sleep the first watch in order to recover his magic. He will take the second four hour shift and spend the first 15 minutes of that rememorising his hypnotism spell.

Kragg will rest up trying to recover more.

Hex moves to examine the once blocked staircase that leads down into the antechamber and finds that it is no longer sealed. He sees the stairs lead up into a large chamber where the air seems less fetid. Abijah knows this to be the inside of the church on the ground level. The stairs in the antechamber (area 5) lead up to the underside of the altar that shifted as Abijah sought refuge from the gnolls.

The inquisitive halfling scans the area for secret doors, but nothing out of the ordinary presents itself.

Deciding that the storeroom (area 9) may prove too cramped to comfortably house the group and wanting to have the option to fall back, the adventurers decide to set up camp in the vestry (area 8).

Osprey ruminates on the fact that his own religious convictions might not be so far removed from those of the priests in whose monastery he now lingers, and the elf takes precautions by setting up alarms to prevent the group from being caught unawares.

The party makes themselves as comfortable as possible, watches are set, spells are studied, and sleep eventually sets in. +1 HP to those in need.

With the exception of a few inexplicable noises heard from the depths of the catacombs, the night passes uneventfully.

Actions?

"Perhaps if Morris studies the read magic incantation and accompanies Abijah and myself to the statue will was so enraptured by we might discern something of note that might give a clue as to what the place is for yes yes yes?" Hex says with a shrug.

"The others need more rest, especially Kragg and Osprey. Maybe you could have a look at Morris' spell book and see if there is anything within it you can learn whilst we are gone hmmmmm?"

was there any other places or scrolls we needed to decipher I can't

Abijah considers the staircase and the wounded: "Stairs go up to church. We could go home. Leave this place and rest. No?"

Wil considers "we have taken on a righteous quest. I don't feel right about returning so soon with our quest unfilled. Perhaps some additional rest here will light our way?"

Kragg "Starting to wonder if we aaren't doomed either way. We stay here having nobody left to heal us and all is for naught. We try and break out and make it back to the village and we may well be swarmed by gnolls and killed."

"Maybe you're right - makes sense to have a holy member in our group to help us in our quest. Besides, with a temple before us without a clerical guide seems odd. Do we gather our strength here quickly then make the journey back to town? In the end, it may be quicker than trying to slowly recover from the likely battles before us..."

Kragg shrugs "Dunno either way with those that've died along the way and those that've taken off on us we're needing a good bit of support. We had stronger numbers coming in than we currently have now. Plus we had our guide."
