Forums- Can they be as cool as the dice roller?

#1 Post by Valdus »

Never being a giant fan of phpBB (though dang its great on mobile) I was wondering if there is any way that the forums could be as unbelievably cool and nostalgic as the dice roller.

I adore the PH background, then I click to the forums and bang, its like going to a W-2 form.

Thoughts?

This is (unshockingly :) ) easier said than done. Greg has said that futzing with how the forum looks, actually changes its usability. Not that it would be a bad thing, it would just change how the users do things. It took me long enough to figure how things work around here! But it's (apparently - I'm just a social worker ;) ) a lot of work to implement.
Great idea, but likely not going to happen for a while. Thanks though Valdus!
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

A text-based bulletin board system isn't nostalgic enough for you? What more do you want—a dial-up scrolling interface? ;)

I do agree though, that the look of the die roller really rocks!
Now if it just stopped giving us in the Briarsgate so many "1"s it'd be truly awesome.

I meant no insult to the programmer's just an idea, just something to get us in the mood as much as the dice roller.

But I am good with this, it reminds me of dragon's foot and like I said, great on mobile.

Nah, I think all knew no insult was intended. Your suggestion is definitely a good one!

Of course Inferno, of course.
Every time he's broken out a neato Ranger skill, the die roller sends him a wholly inadequate roll as well. Poor guy! He writes wonderful modules, but can't catch a break on a find tracks roll. ;)
