Re: Chapter 3 > Redbrand Hideout, Part 2
Ioriston puts on his most professorial voice:
"I have a scroll that allows me to cast a spell that will allow the target to stick to walls. I can cast this on our strongest, and he can ferry each of us across. Additionally, we can secure a rope across the span of the trap. Does that sound as logical to everyone as it does to me?"
Ioriston is beginning to think his genius a burden.

Kelton finally pipes in.
I may not be the strongest but, I will be happy to be the bearer of this burden. Cast your spell wizard, I will do the rest.

Re: Chapter 3 > Redbrand Hideout, Part 2
Ioriston takes out the scroll and takes the time to get the spell correct. As Ioriston chants the spell (Spider Climb), the words starts fading from the scroll. Ioriston then touches Kelton and empowers him with the ability to walk on walls like a spider.
"The deed is done, Kelton. My first recommendation would be to help Aslaan to the other side. Then perhaps throw or carry a rope or two across to form a bridge. The assist us all across the span. This is the best course of action."

Kelton quickly does as instructed. He helps the others cross the narrow ledge, all the while relishing in his new temporary magical ability.
Wow! This magic stuff is pretty neat! I am developing a rather keen fondness of your powers recently Lor. Perhaps you could teach me a few of these minor tricks of yours once we are back in more desirable accommodations?

"You are very welcome, Kelton! The arcane arts are not for the feint of heart. They take years of study and practice. I will try to tutor you in whatever I can, but you'll need to be willing to take the time to learn."
With Kelton's help, Ioriston crosses the 10' span.
"My recommendation for the next room, is to, dear Kelton, attack any adversaries by flanking them from an impossible angle."
Ioriston is amused by how impressive his abilities seem to everyone. He can only imagine how his abilities will exponentially increase upon the defeat and subsequent questioning of the mage of the glass staff.

Re: Chapter 3 > Redbrand Hideout, Part 2
Ioriston's plan works very well and Kelton is able to "ferry" everyone across pretty quickly, even carrying both of the Dendrar women at the same time. Once the companions regroup on the other side of the pit, they continue ahead, Aslaan and Kelton in the lead, with Kael, Gerland, and Ioriston protecting the Dendrar family in their midst.
Turning down the southern passage, you find yourselves in a cellar with a walkway fifteen feet above you, accessible by two short flights of stone steps. A large stone cistern occupies the western part of the room, whose walls are lined with kegs and barrels. There is a door in the wall just north of the cistern.

Ioriston the ever-helpful chimes in his recommendation: "What will it be, gentlemen? The high road or the low road? I'd recommend the high road in order to get a better vantage on the cistern door later."

Kael nods. I dont care how we do it but its time to get outta here fast.
He also slaps Ioriston on the shoulder. Nice work with the spell. I wasn't keen about crossing the ledge an' I'm not too sure the civilians wouda' made it without yer work.

Kelton climbs up the wall and onto the ceiling. He searches the room over from a birds eye view, hoping to find something that those on the ground cannot.
He then checks out the top of the bridge to see if he can spot anything out of the ordinary before anyone climbs the stairs.
Perception Check [1d20+3] = 5+3 = 8

When Kelton climbs the stairs, he gets a good look around the cellar and can see the way out to the east...

Perhaps we should set up a ranged perimeter and open the cistern door? The upstairs seems safe enough for now.

Ummmm should someone check for traps along that path to the door? says Kael in a uncertain manner.

Perhaps there is some wisdom in that, Kael. Now that our thief has passed on, who would like to check?

Kelton continues to crawl around on the walls and ceiling, inspecting the area mentioned for traps or other anomalies.
Perception Check [1d20+3] = 12+3 = 15
He really seems to be enjoying his temporary power of the spider, until something suddenly dawns on him.
Hey Lor! I guess I should have asked you just how long this thing lasts?
He gets a little closer to the floor.

While the others check the walkway and cistern area, Gerland will check the eastern passage.

Have no fears, Kelton! It lasts for an hour! By my reckoning, you have at least another one half hour remaining!OGRE MAGE wrote:Kelton continues to crawl around on the walls and ceiling, inspecting the area mentioned for traps or other anomalies.
