Chapter 3 > Redbrand Hideout, Part 2

#1 Post by hedgeknight »

Moved the last two posts here and started a new thread. A few years ago, the admins suggested limiting threads to 20 pages max. ;)
Kael stops attacking the door.
So lets, um, check the keys.

Lets see if this is the right tool for the job.
He tries the key in the lock, almost certain it has to be the answer. ;)
After Ioriston and Aslaan exchange a few barbs, Kelton finally remembers he took a big ol' iron key from one of the bugbears. He tries the key and it opens the door to the armory.
Racks of weapons line the walls of this chamber, including spears, swords, crossbows, and bolts. A dozen dirty red cloaks hang from hooks by the door. The weapon racks hold 12 spears, six shortswords, four longswords, six light crossbows, and eight quiver holding 20 crossbow bolts each.

Aslaan

Aslaan resolves that even though he got the better of the exchange he will not be smug with Ioriston. It's the mature thing to do after all.

Aslaan holds up the corner of one of the red cloaks Disguises, anyone?

Aslaan then takes one of the red cloaks and begins plotting on how to remove as much of these items as possible to take to the woman at the store.

Ioriston will look around for anything magically out of the ordinary (items or otherwise):

Insight Check: [1d20+3] = 20+3 = 23

If anything had been there, you would have definitely found it! But alas...nothing. ;)

Aslaan

Ioriston, you may have better luck finding something in the barracks. We can try there next.

Aslaan will grab an extra red cloak and begin placing weapons in that to wrap up and take along with the group.

Gentlemen, says Kelton, with a confident smile. I think the time for subterfuge is already behind us, no? This red band of thugs has been defeated and we are the victors.

He takes nothing from the armory but does not object to the others doing so.

Let us finish off the rest of these rooms so we can get these fine folks back to town where we can all tell our tales. We can always come back here later in the day with a pack animal to retrieve our spoils.

Kelton readies himself to check the last few rooms, waiting for the others to finish their looting.

"I whole-heartedly agree. I will not debase myself to wear the badge of these ruffians. If any remain, they know we are here and they know who we are." Gerland does take a quiver of crossbow bolts to supplement his current supply.

Aslaan

Well, just remember that we don't yet know how many red cloaks are still outside of this...den? Nor do we know what they know about us and what has happened in here. And from behind, anyone can be a bandit wearing this filthy thing. I'm ready to go to the barracks.

Aslaan will take four short swords and two long swords and wrap them in the extra red cloak to carry with him. He will sling through his pack the other red cloak instead of putting it on.

When approaching any new area (e.g. barracks) Aslaan will gently set down the wrapped weapons and have his bow ready.

Kael frowns at the suggestion of wearing the cloak. I ain't wearing this piece of shit, just bringing it back to town like a trophy. Seems more human then collectin' ears. HE stuffs the cloak in his backpack before moving along.

Ioriston pontificates: "The truth of the matter is that these cloaks may be useful whatever misdeeds those who have worn it before us have committed. I, for one, will take the cloak in anticipation of needing it later."

Ioriston will follow everyone to the next room at the rear.

How are you planning to get to the rest of the hideout? Via the double doors in the crypt room or back through the crevasse along that southeastern hallway?

Aslaan

I'm willing to go either way but considering some of the nasty surprises we have had I vote we go through the crypt to the barracks. We've already seen those doors open and what comes out. And hopefully there aren't anymore.

I'm with Aslaan on this. Better the paths we know than those we do not.

Making your way back through the crypt, you approach the double doors at the southern end of the room. There are slightly open from the Redbrand surprise attack and you are cautious in your approach. Opening them wider, you see a hallway leading east, running about 40 feet with what looks like an alcove or southern turn near the end.
There are lit torches along the wall in 10-foot intervals. All is quiet.

Current Stats:
Aslaan >full hp
Ioriston > has 12 hp
Kael > full hp
Kelton > has 26 hp
Gerland > full hp

Ioriston whispers: "The torches are still lit. There may be more of them. We should certainly proceed, but with caution."

Ioriston will stick to the rear of the group.

Aslaan

Arrow nocked, Aslaan gestures with his head to indicate he will take point. Moving quietly down the hall, checking for any indication of traps- particularly tripwires.

stealth check [1d20+3] = 5+3 = 8
