"This isn't something they stressed at the monestary," Gerland yells back at loriston as he makes another ineffectual swing of his mace.

Mace attack: [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8 Damage [1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6

Nap time for you. We'll have a few questions for you when you wake up!

Ioriston has an evil grin as he points his finger at the fleeing cultist and casts Sleep!

Sleep: [5d8] = 17 HP worth of baddies go naptime!

This time, I get to question him first!

Kelton smiles at the words of the brazen Ioriston. He decides it's time to stow his trusty ax for the so far unused longsword that he has been carrying all this time. He draws "Talon" and hacks at the tree thing, hoping that the sword adds its magical power to his mediocre swing.

Attack w/ "Talon" [1d20+3] = 6+3 = 9 Damage [1d8+3] = 2+3 = 5

He smirks at his magic tutor. I wish you could have done that before they shot me.

As the cultist drops like a sack of snoring potatoes, Ioriston pointedly responds to his young student:

And I wish you hadn't given up on your spells in favor of your sword before they had the opportunity to strike at you.

Aslaan

Aslaan's first thought was to prevent the second cultist from getting away. Seeing a spell cast on the man Aslaan pauses a moment before choosing his target. If the spell puts the fleeing man to sleep then Aslaan will fire on the wooden demon. If the man seems unaffected, he will fire on the man before he can get away.

To hit: [1d20+7] = 19+7 = 26, damage with longbow [1d8+3] = 1+3 = 4

Twig Blight Melee, Rd 5 > Questions for a Cultist

Seeing the fleeing cultist stumble, stagger, and fall asleep, Aslaan turns to the last remaining blight...and obliterates it swiftly and surely!
Kelton and Ioriston exchange words about knowing when to hold them and when to fold them, while the elven mage tromps over to the sleeping cultist.

The man wears a black mask and cloak; his short sword is still gripped in his right hand.

Actions?

Aslaan > down 6 hp
Gerland > down 3 hp
Ioriston > down 3 hp
Kelton > down 10 hp

Ioriston carefully takes off his mask and cloak and hands the short sword to Kelton.

You seem to be adept at these. Hold this.

Ioriston turns to the rest of the party: Does anyone have rope that we can use to tie him to a tree? Alternately, we could break his legs to avoid any unseemly escape. Keep in mind, this cultist is already damned to dragonfire so his life is forfeit.

Ioriston looks at the cloak and mask and talks to himself: If we only had a damnable rogue who can pass for a cultist in this habit.

Looking at the cultist, he has an unshorn face with short brown hair; he's comparable in size to Kelton or Gerland. ;)

Come to think of it... Kelton, Gerland, I mean no insult when I say he bares a vague resemblance to you both. It might just be that many humans look the same to me, but infiltration is now a viable option rather than the wholesale slaughter of these damned cultists. Our draconic friend may be less than pleased if she comes to retrieve her prize and there is no target for her retribution.

Thanks a bunch!

Kelton, you appear worse for wear for our little foray here. Gerland casts Cure Wounds on Kelton.

Cure Wounds: [1d8+5] = 4+5 = 9

Aslaan offers his own helpful suggestion, If you are going break his legs to prevent escape, you could always cut his tongue out too to prevent any yelling for help. Either that or I have some rope if you want to go with the tying up option. A gag would be needed as well.

Aslaan, that is a solid observation. We should gag him as well. Cutting out his tongue would serve little to no purpose as we need it to wag.

Kelton

My sincerest thanks to you Gerland! I am feeling much better now.

The fighter first caster second, takes a close look at the cloak and mask, eyeing them up for size.

Lets see what kind of information we can get from this bastard first before we go into full deception mode. As long as the cloak isn't too dirty or smelly, I will offer to wear it if that is the route we decide on.

Gerland heals Kelton and Aslaan and Ioriston tie up the sleeping cultist.
All else is quiet in the wood except for the sounds of birds in the trees.

We should get this cultist somewhere quiet before he wakes so that none can be alerted through his screaming.

We could wrap cloth around his head- even better if it's wet. Then you run out of air quickly when you yell so it encourages quiet. Plus he'll still have the gag. We could stick him in that crumbled building (to the left of #10 on map) or drag him back to the round tower (#7 building on map).

Kelton is shocked by his comrades aggression but then thinks it might only be a ploy to scare the cultist into revealing information. So, he decides to join in.

Lets get him into that building and see what he knows. If he doesn't want to talk, we can feed him to the dragon.

Ioriston patiently explains to the others:

Just a friendly reminder to all those who are going to have direct verbal interaction with a cultist: they do not know who send us and we should keep it that way. Once they get wind that the dragon has sent, there will be dire consequences for her offspring. We must be as covert about our purpose as possible. Remember that even if we let a single cultist go free, they are all damned men on account of our employer. We were tasked due to the delicacy of the matter and we would do well to remember that.

From your position on the map, you're closest to buildings #9 and #12. But you can take him wherever you wish.

For the third time now, Kelton does a facepalm and turns red with embarrassment.

He decides to keep quiet during the interrogation so as not to reveal any more information to this doomed cultist.
