I'm pretty sure transcribing scrolls to spell books is BtB, but I'm not sure where. It should certainly be possible with a write spell, if anyone knows it.

Is there any chance we could expedite Grothnak's conversation with the mirror? I don't want him to miss out on the treasure orgy (or on commenting thereon), but if we do one exchange with the mirror per move the conversation will take much longer than the looting.

If you can point me to the DMG page on transcribing scrolls to spellbooks, please let me know.

I'll update today with the mirror. But please feel free to indicate your treasure preferences OOC if you like.

Grothnak's preference is that we return these goods to their rightful owners. ;)

He would, of course, be curious about the halberd, though he would be loathe to abandon Vadok. He would also use a potion of heroism, though I'd suggest we keep the potions as group treasure and use them where most needed. The mirror might also make an effective weapon.

Oh, and here's something from the DMG on copying spells from scrolls to spell books:
DMG p. 39 wrote:Thus, if Redouleent the Prestidigitator, intelligence 15, has a repertoire of 7 spells and finds a scroll with yet another, there is a 65% chance that the spell can be understood by that worthy. If, in fact, it can be comprehended, Redouleent must then record the spell in his book (thus destroying that portion of the scroll, of course) . . . .
There's also this:
DMG p. 117 wrote:(In order for a magic-user or illusionist to transcribe a heretofore unknown spell from a scroll to his or her books, a read magic and then a period of time equal to that necessary to place the spell on the scroll are required; this likewise causes the spell to disappear from the scroll.)

Do we follow Bo's suggestion of using an illusion to cover our hidden presence here or do we press on?
Hey, Wolfpack, I think Long Bo already snagged the tree shield, but the other shield with the Hookhill insignia on it is still available. I edited my post so Telkis doesn’t have it (he can’t use it).

Is anyone going to snag the sword from a lost human empire? Pelias hasn't claimed anything yet. Brevos?
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Updated again:

Apologies if I have anything wrong.

The long sword from a lost human empire hasn't been claimed yet. As Scott/Ingrid suggests, it might go to Brevos (who asked for a shield, of which there is one available), or Pelias (who hasn't claimed any of the reusable items yet, only a single use potion).

Also, Pip has chosen to forego his share and has taken nothing.

If Hoom keeps his family heirloom, Brevos takes the non-wooden shield and Pelias takes the long sword, the below list might be final.
Please let me know if I've screwed anything up. Thanks for expediting this! Back to the ghastly horror soon. :D

Hi Socratic,
I have no house rule that allows for spell books to be used like scrolls. Scrolls are single-use magical items that trigger a spell effect. Spellbooks are tomes of arcane formulae that enable repeated memorization of spells. "Dispel Magic" will erase a scroll, but not a spellbook.

Also, the fiery orange solvent does flicker with cyan light. See below for more on that...
Do you have that backwards? Did you mean a scroll can not be used as a spell book?
Casting directly out of the spell book, treating the pages like a scroll, is on page 80 of the Unearth Arcana.
Adding spells to your spell book via scroll is in DMG pg 39. It mentioned but it doesn't lay out the mechanics of how it is done.

Brevos does use along sword, however He already carries a magical one in Brood and even though this one is probably better than a simple +1 his sword is kind of part of his character makeup and I can see him more interested in taking a new shield than giving up his magic blade.

Hi Dads,
I do have it backwards, thanks. :)
No Unearthed Arcana in this game, so hopefully it doesn't come to that.
