So if Pelias lays hands on someone that can get us to only two unconscious people.

What are the rules for moving someone who is unconscious?

Also, about how far is it to the ground fro the floor we're on? Have we seen any windows? How about from the tower?

We're out of spells, three of us are unconscious, two of those three are bleeding out, everyone but Grothnak is in single digit HP at best, and we have an angry mob on the way.

Anyone have any great ideas?

Idea 1: Bar the door, hope the door the priest came through leads to an exit. But even if it does, we'd have to move Avril, Hoom, and Urdur somehow. Maybe we have time to dump oil on the stairs before barring the door.

Idea 2: Spread oil on the stairs and the landing, find a defensible position (the doorway?) and put Grothnak in front with Pelias right behind for aura benefit. Light the oil when the mob arrives. Grothnak fights until he dies a glorious death. Well, a fighting death. He won't find fighting a bunch of mad villagers to be glorious, but at least he'd die defending the unconscious party members, so that's something.

And...that's all I've got. Unless we can somehow scare the villagers away or figure out the "all clear" signal.

Maybe the priest's body will have something useful?

Speaking of which, Moogeye had a ring of protection +1 we should probably scavenge (sorry, Moogeye).
Things do indeed look quite grim.

If Urdur can find a way to achieve consciousness, he still has one spell left. Unfortunately, most of his spells are crap. But perhaps if we bar the door, an Audible Glamer of something eldritch and nasty commanding the villagers to leave might be enough to disband them. Or Urdur could try to Hypnotize the leader into doing the same.
How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?

The unconscious lost woman might be able to vouch for us if we can locate her alive.

You don't think the mob is all cultists?

No, I hope not.

I think there are a few cultists that are controlling the rest of the frightened and easily manipulated townspeople.

That is why I thought talking to them before they see the bloodbath in here might help our cause some.

Hopefully when they see these priests cthulhu outfits, they will understand. But I'm guessing that the cultists already have a lie figured up for that.

I think the mob are all cultists. The temple is where the cult gathers. The bells alerted the cultists to come running. Anyone who isn't in the cult is hiding out.

The cult runs the town. At least half the town is cult. Maybe more The people who haven't been brought into the cult know about the cult, or know that things have been happening. Recall the conversations with townies who weren't in the cult, or with the hermit. This isn't a case of a few cultists getting people roused up. It's a cult mob.

I don't think half of the town is cultists.

It doesn't make sense to me to put a low level party against an indomitable foe like that.

Besides, if the whole town is already brainwashed, what is the motivation or satisfaction in saving it?

I still think we can talk our way out of this and don't need to kill the entire mob.

I have been known to be very wrong about these things before though.

Maybe the point was not to get the whole town rising up to fight the party at once. :)

I missed the post where Pelias got his healing powers back.

Monday morning quarterbacking, it might have been good to hole up in the bell tower, since the undead may have kept the mob at bay.

What about going through the west door in room 13? I don't fancy trying to talk to the mob.

Zhym mentioned Moogeye's ring. From that same post:
Inferno wrote:Fallen Moogeye wears the ring of her god, Fharlanghn. (a +1 ring of protection)
A ring on Misha Devi's dead finger has the Baklunish symbol of sanctuary and safe harbor. (another +1 ring of protection)
Beneath Misha Devi's black, blood soaked robes is a suit of banded mail that would fit Avril or Ingrid. (AC: 4, Max movement: 9")

I am definitely for searching more rooms over the killing of brainwashed townspeople. My vote is idea 1 until we can find idea 3.

We could use the oil and fire plan to keep them at bay for a while again and block the door. That might buy us some more time to find an exit.

Sorry Zhym, I missed this:
Zhym wrote:What are the rules for moving someone who is unconscious?
If their wounds are bound they suffer no further injury, I will rule.
Their weight (and the weight of their equipment) gets added to the carrier's encumbrance to determine his new movement rate.
Zhym wrote:Also, about how far is it to the ground from the floor we're on?
30 feet. The first floor literally has cathedral ceilings.
Zhym wrote:Have we seen any windows?
In this room (11), there are small, high windows on the north wall, too small to fit a man. Bo broke one of these windows to escape in the form of a sparrow.
The first floor has large stained glass windows in areas 5 and 10, and in the northernmost corridor between area 10 and the stairwell.
Zhym wrote:How about from the tower?
Only Bo has seen the belltower. There is access to a slanted roof, 45-55 feet from the ground. The church is two stories: first floor is 30 feet tall, second floor is 15-25 tall, depending on where it falls along the slantline of the roof. The roof is lowest at the church's eastern and western walls.

Also, Grothnak and Telkis found a trapdoor to a basement level. And Mouser, Hoom and Urdur have been in parts of it.

Thanks.

The basement level isn't terribly appealing at the moment. It probably has more combat waiting for our depleted group. Also, I'm not sure how we could get there with the mob approaching.

Urdur is probably the most useful to awaken right now. A wall of fog might help cover our retreat, clever use of audible glamer might put the mob off our chase, and even hypnotism might be useful under the right circumstance.

It was priestess Misha Devi's ring. Please add it to your inventory and reduce Grothnak's AC by 1.
Thanks.

If this entire mob is indeed cultists, wouldn't this be a great time to figure out a way to lock them all inside of here somewhere. Then if there were still townsfolk that were not involved in the cult, they would be a lot easier to talk to and get information from.
