Grok & Torse

#1 Post by Agnati »

So Torse took a while, but we finally managed to subdue him, meanwhile Grok escaped with a small horde of treasure.
Question is... do we pursue Grok? We're treasure hunters... kinda what we do.
While Torse is laying unconscious in the back of the wagon, we discuss this on our way back to the barbarian village.
Lycia votes for interrogating the prisoner, however painful it needs to be, to find out where Grok resides and how the best way to get to him is (secret passage leading to the back of his own hut, etc) and possibly get the Barbarian clan to aid us in protecting their own lands... we don't mention the treasure, holding her hand up to Galius as to say 'not a word from you' (being the "goodest" PC we have), (A. that's the guise we present the plan under B. they make good cannon fodder). If he cooperates, we promise that we will not kill him... and leave it at that.
Vis simply scoffs at Lycia putting herself in danger. Makes his thoughts known with a gaze through the slit in his facemask but otherwise remains silent.

Notes from the battlefield:
Torse - Fighter - lvl 4
Grok - head of the gorilla clan - manipulates gorillas - Druid - unknown level - (OOC, for documentation) at least lvl 4 to have Wildshape ability
Grok called the gem the Heart of Aromon. Who is/was Aromon and what makes the gem special besides it's size?

Looted
Box with glyphs & runes
Heart of Aromon gem. DM can give description?
Dark gray longsword - made from "black iron" - Referred to as a "cold iron sword" or "Cimmerian Broadsword" (the name used in character sheets) - 1d8/1d10 slashing - "anti-magic"? Need to identify pronto
Gauntlet with pale blue glow on it's black steel. "Vengeance" is whispered in mind & right hand feels chilled - +2 AC - Also need to identify pronto
+30gp

OOC:
How should we handle ability score improvements?

First things first, Ape Clan, not Gorilla Clan. Show some respect.

You need to decide if you are going to pursue Grok, Torse can be forced to reveal the location of their base of operations, or if you are going to head on to your next point of interest, in Aquilonia. Either way is fine by me. But I need to know soon.

Also, who has the gem, and what are you doing with it?

Who has the gauntlet, and are you wearing it?

That's what I need to know.

We're going to speak with the Barbarian clan and get their help (or use them as cannon fodder) in getting past the rest of the APE clan.
We do not disclose that Grok is in possession of treasure, much less that that is our prize to be had.
Unless Torse mentions that keeping him alive is the only (or easiest) way to get to Grok, we hand him over to the Barbarian clan to do with as they see fit, being sure to drop the line "Here is the #2 man responsible for the desecration of the temple and your lands). We promised we wouldn't kill him. Up to the Barbarians what they want to do with him (or how to season him).

Zildjian has the Heart of Ahriman in some secret place... not sure it it'll take a cavity search to find it or not.... though that would explain why he walks funny and can't sit on his horse anymore.

Lycia is wearing the gauntlet, though the voices in her head are getting a little crowded! Next time she's in a position to do so, she'll "test the waters" with the Gauntlet of Vengeance, as she's calling it for now, by doing things like talking to it, crying "Vengeance is mine!" when someone hits her with an attack, etc. Anything to see if it has any sort of reaction.

We also procure any additional health potions they may have on hand, if any! We went through a few on that last encounter.
