Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
Siavel stops his conjuring when the ranger stops his advance.
That is ridiculous! I am not trying to kill anyone! I think this place is starting to get to all of us!
The elven mage looks around a little more at the carnage of dead and unmoving bodies lying around.
I am in full control of myself! I was simply duped by the effects of the bag but, now I can see the error in my ways.
I have no interest in hurting any of you! The fighter was already dead!!! This blade has nothing to do with what just happened.
However, if you no longer need the services of a wizard, perhaps I should climb back out of this hell hole and take my chances with the headhunters down below.

Calto the druid:
Calto eyes both men cautiously, hoping the situation has been diffused. He has a strong feeling that the dagger does have an unatural hold over the mage, and the situation will have to be addressed soon.

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
Kitchi- Friend if the dagger has no hold on you. Drop it and walk away.

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
Siavel seems to be snapping out of the mental funk that had him nearly firing a spell at one of his friends.
Of course you all think that the dagger is commanding me, right? Well, I can assure you all that it isn't!
This blade might have a sinister purpose but it is NOT strong enough to possess me. I think it will actually help us to get out of this place with our lives if you all just trust me a little longer.
I have deduced that it alone knows the only safe way out of this place. It tells me that there is an underground exit somewhere deep inside the bowels of the shrine. If I dispose of the only tool that might help us, we will surely be doomed.

Azoth and Tabai can now speak, but their limbs are still like wood and can barely bend at the joints.
"We are too few now to fight each other," Azoth the cleric says with some struggle. "We must find a safe place to recover."

Tabai says nothing and just uses his spear to get back up slowly keeping an eye on the situation before him.

Calto the druid:
Calto makes his way over to the newly revived Azoth and Tabai and does what he can to assist with helping them return to their normal state of mobility. "'Yes, enough of this bickering. Azoth is correct; we must find a haven in which to recover...if one exists in this cursed shrine."

Siavel
I know we cant go all the way back into the poison air but I will need to be close to the hidden exit in order to be able to sense it.
We could go back down to a room we have rested in before. One we can make secure from the giant undead birthing monsters?

The adventurers look at their map to determine the most strategic place to rest.

Calto the druid:
"Shall we seek refuge in the room where we encountered the water weird and that spectral entity? It seems fairly defensible. One of us can guard the shaft and another could guard the door."

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
Kitchi- You and dagger may lead the way then. Let us go and rest where Calto suggests. Kitchi goes and helps Tabia.

Tabai will stay near the back of the group as they move onward.

Calto the druid:
"Then let us make haste before we are beset upon once again." He helps Azoth to his feet and begins to proceed back toward the water weird chamber.

Siavel leads the way as commanded, holding his dagger out in front of him as he walks.
Yes! Good idea Calto. I am glad that you didn't die from my accident. You are very wise for a half-human.

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
The adventurers move along the passageway, past the secret doors into the chamber from which the live statue possessed Azoth; then under the wind tunnel trap door in the ceiling; then through the shrine room where they battled the centaur-mummy; and finally to the door into the fountain room.
The door opens revealing stairs leading down 10' to a small and plainly decorated 15'x10' room. Faded mosaics of daily life cover the walls. To the north is a well head covered by a square pewter basin, about 5' wide. To each side of the stairs are fountains made of bronze-inlaid marble. The east fountain is cracked and only dry limey deposits remain. The west fountain contains about two feet of brackish water, fed by a limey trickle. In it the white, gauzy form of a crayfish lies on a bed of lime encrustations.

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
The wounded, exhausted adventurers settle in, securing the door and weighting the cover of the shaft as best they can. Watch is kept and they sleep heavily. Dreams come of the old empire and the shrine in its exalted peak.
Tabai has nightmares of his village being pillaged by the cannibals.
The sleep passes uneventfully, followed by prayer and arcane study.
Spells may be renewed.
