Inferno's done a stellar job looking up the Edoans for his background!

For fun and a bit of history, I've gone ahead and copied in the source references to the Ship's Computer, taken from the Star Trek Concordance and Arex's biography printed in Lincoln Enterprises Star Trek Catalogue #5, which are the only pre-FASA references I know of. STAGFF isn't much help, it just says 'Edoans are tripedal and tri-armed members of the UFP.'

We'll say that Edos is still independent but part of the herd, sort of like a Commonwealth country to the UFP.

Thanks.

After much soul-searching, I'm going to go with "Edosians." Although Edoan or Triexians are acceptable. ;)

In my extensive research ;) into the thrice-named inhabitants of planet Edos, I looked at some episodes of Star Trek the Animated Series on Netflix. The animation is just terrible but taken as a radio play, they're not completely awful. They act as the 4th and 5th seasons of the show, or 4th and 5th years of the Enterprise's 5 year mission.

Roddenberry is involved. The original TV cast are the voice actors, save Chekov who is replaced by Lt. Arex the Edoan Navigator voiced by James Doohan!

30 minute episodes. Some good writing, aimed more at the fans of the original series than kids. Some "big concepts" and the first appearance of the holodeck. Harry Mudd and Cyrano Jones each return for an episode, with the original actors doing the voices. Klingons, Tribbles, disembodied alien entities who take over the ship's computers, it's all kinda there. They don't use the original music though, which really hurts.

Also, danged if E.T. wasn't based on Arex the Edoan.

PS: I've also discovered a recent fanfic tv series of the Enterprise's 4th season, that has a CGI Arex on the show.
Arex is taken as canon because Roddenberry was involved in STTAS, apparently.
It's where I got my character image from.

The official site.

An informative wiki on the whole thing.

Thud! Thud! is heard over the intercom. "Well it's broke again."
"Did you get the button stuck again? I don't think hitting it is going to do any good."
More thumping noise is heard over the intercom.
"Bridge, Bridge, oh never mind. I'll do it the old fashion way. If you need me I'll be on the bridge. Send up a smoke signal if you need me."
"Yes Doctor."
The sound of the sick bay door can be heard opening and closing, followed by clicking of heels on the metal deck which gets progressively louder. "It's amazing such a brilliant doctor having so much trouble with a simple piece of technology."

Hahaha! It isn't proper Star Trek unless the doctor has a volatile love-hate relationship with technology.

McCoy was right about transporters though. Each time you get in one, you're disintegrated to death. Then a perfect duplicate, with all your memories, appears elsewhere. :D
Spoiler!

'The Prestige' does a good job of explaining transporters. :)

Starbeard, I'm leaving tomorrow on a work trip and will be back Monday night.
If I'm slow to respond this weekend, please NPC Nadix for me to keep things moving along. Thanks.

Alright, I'm back on track now, thanks for putting things on hold for me. I've updated a couple of private boards for those characters who still had some information or action pending. If I missed your character, just let me know and I'll go back and update your action results.

Very cool.
You noted a "slower paced" game in the beginning.
Honestly which is cool by me, it allows me to play!
--Ron--
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

I'm hoping to keep things at about 2 posts a week, which I guess seemed slower to me than most of the games here, which are daily. Ideally I'll process people's actions once midweek and once over the weekend. Since a lot of the action requires player communication, your own posts can be at whatever pace you all set, but I don't plan on moving my end along any faster than 2 'game wide' posts a week, 1 when things get busy.

My apologies for not posting recently. Unfortunately, I was a victim of bureaucratic mix up so to speak. My wife and I purchased and settled on our new home two Friday's ago. I informed Verizon that the services would need to be turned off at the property we were renting on Monday at the same time they set up service at our new house. They turned the service off Saturday. We didn't think it a big deal because it was only two days and we were moving things anyway. When they set the new service up on Monday, it ran for about 5 hours and then shut everything off. I wasn't able to get it fixed and back online till Thursday. By that point in time, I was behind on moving boxes. I'll post something shortly.

No worries, as rredmond said, we're in no rush for this game.

It sounds like you've had a pretty frustrating week trying to get everything up and running, but congratulations on the new house anyway!

It sounds morbid, but when it comes to celebrities, they always pass in threes. Back in February we lost Leonard Nemoy. I pray we do not lose another of our beloved cast.

I never knew she wrote a book. That would be interesting to skim through. Unrelated, but I saw William Shatner has a home remodeling reality show in which, in this episode, he was having his kitchen remodeled. It's called the Shatner Project, and I'm embarrassed for him.
