[Checking Interest] AD&D 1E Tournament Adventure
Hi Folks!
I am in a couple of games that seem to be circling the proverbial drain at the moment, so I am thinking about starting up something new on here.
I have an old copy of a 1E tournament based module from the early 80's that I have always wanted to run. It is one of the "C" series adventures and I think it would be a fun little game to run in the PbP format. I would run it as a standalone adventure since it is tournament based, so it won't take as long to finish as a normal module would. (I think there are less than 20 total rooms to explore) Though, tournament rules and scoring won't be used.
*WARNING* *DISCLAIMER* *READ ME*
This game will not play like your standard dungeon crawl!!!
It will be a difficult adventure that takes place in a "find your way out or die trying" scenario. To survive, it will take intelligent, rational, cooperation from the entire group. There is not a lot of combat in this game, so if that is your main thing, you might want to pass on this one. However, if you like a game that tests your mental meddle, and you want to be part of a group that thinks first and swings second, this one might be a good fit for you.
The basic premise for this game is that the party needs to seek a way out of a seriously powerful wizards abode while discovering all manner of wonderful, interesting, and dangerous things that this high level mage has created and conjured over his many years.
I am thinking about a posting rate of somewhere around twice a week, but please don't say that you can handle that if you really can't. (you know who you are)
I will likely have each player create a new 3rd or 4th level character of their choosing, depending on interest and total party make-up.
I am happy to include any of the newer players to the Unseen Servant, and would really enjoy involving some players who I haven't played with on here yet as well.
If we can come up with around 7 or 8 interested players, I will put in a request for this to be set up.
This is only an interest check right now, so please don't start off by posting a character sheet in this thread. (again, you know who you are)
Hit me up with any questions you might have.
Thanks!

Heh heh. I had a feeling. A game like this has been bandied around before.
I can’t play, but I will definitely lurk. Sounds awesome!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

That makes two lurkers I'm a bit guilty of joining a lot of games on here so I'll sit this one out but keep watch of the game progress once started.rredmond wrote:Heh heh. I had a feeling. A game like this has been bandied around before.

Sounds verrry intriguing! I'd be interested.

Sounds interesting, I am interested.
Re: [Checking Interest] AD&D 1E Tournament Adventure
Color me intrigued. But also busy. Put me on the "interested, but more than willing to be bumped in favor of new blood" list.
Re: [Checking Interest] AD&D 1E Tournament Adventure
Sounds great. I will definitely be lurking on this one, since I know I'll slap myself later if I cave in and join now.

Re: [Checking Interest] AD&D 1E Tournament Adventure
Looks like a good start with five possible players so far. (Thanks for the interest!)
If we could get about 3 more people interested, that would round out the group nicely.
Anyone else want in?

Hi there, ZM!
Welcome to the US!
Characters will be created using the AD&D 1E Players Handbook.
Anything outside of those rules can certainly be discussed beforehand, but nothing outlandish will be allowed. (i.e. no UA Barbarians or Acrobats, etc.)

Re: [Checking Interest] AD&D 1E Tournament Adventure
I was just talking to someone about a tournament adventure being run like this.
I'm going to stretch myself and ask to join. You really had me at "find your way out or die trying".

Nice!!!
You are definitely in!
Just don't stretch so much that you pull a hammy.

Re: [Checking Interest] AD&D 1E Tournament Adventure
Since there was pretty good initial interest in this game, I wanted to bump this up one more time to see if we can cap off the list or not.
Interested Players:
Alethan
Mister-Kent
Rex
Zhym (?)
NJWilliam
Monsieur Rose
I suppose I should inform all of you about the weird way I do things on here before asking for your commitment......
Lets see if we can round out the list with a couple more initial players and hopefully we can get this one off the ground.
Anyone else feel like giving this fairly short-lived game a go?

Waitlist me Rob, however if you don't get your cap with other newer players or less busy players throw me down on the interested list to help cap it off.

Count me in if you're still looking for players. The survival angle sounds up my street.
