UK5 Eye of the Serpent [CLOSED]

#1 Post by Vargr1105 »

Alright, so I would like to start low-level game. I am thinking of going with UK5 Eye of the Serpent, a 1984 module for AD&D1e for 4-6 1st level characters (which incidentally is the only AD&D1e module I have ever read). If there is only a bunch of players folks can start at 2nd level

System-wise I would like to go with a house-ruled (and I do mean house-ruled) version of OSRIC but if the Vox Populi really demands it we could use LL + AEC, even if prefer going with the former. There's new classes, human can multiclass, a new ability score modifier table, etc.

The adventure will take place on Greyhawk in the pre-wars era. Here's the blurb:

Gazing down from the pinnacle of Hardway Mountain, who would not be drawn by the far-off glint of the Serpent's Eye? the descent will be hard, the mountain knows neither mercy nor compassion. Many are the lessons to be learned, but fate has left you little choice - are you equal to the challenge? The perils of Hardway are unchanging but the routes between them are not.

There are too many modifications I made to OSRIC to list here. I shall be posting what a character would look like later to give folks an idea.

Awesome module!! I know it well though, and currently my 10yo daughter is working her way down the mountain. I'll be watching this game with a lot of interest!
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Sounds like a good game, but that character sheet is like nothing I've seen before! :?

I am using different ability score modifers (gleaned from OD&D, BD&D and OSRIC) and those weird percentile values below are all reactive so players don't have to worry about it.

But if folks are uncomfortable with house rules we can go by-the-book too.

Could someone put an add for this game on Knights & Knaves and Dragonsfoot? I have registered on those forums but are still waiting for the mod e-mail.

hmm, I am unaccustomed to saying this, and it grits my teeth, but I lied. I could have sworn I pimped both this and the Mad Archmage games. But apparently something, I'll guess human error, went wrong.

But I have rectified my error:

Hello! I'm the admin around here and I've been absent due to work and family matters. If you'd like to start up this game, please send me a PM to confirm and I'll get it going for you.

Thanks for your patience!

Alright folks, the thread is up and active: viewforum.php?f=45

I have added Buzz, Distorted Humor and zebediah to the group so you can post there now. Chargen will involve some going back-and-forth between the players and GM even before you roll any dice.

Campaign ID is 78.

There are still slots open, of course, so if any of you has a friend or pet that wants to play bring him along. ;)

Not full. Still room. But Dwarves can't be Clerics here, only Priests. :)

"Dwarves can't be Clerics here, only Priests"

I'm ok with that, probably better in the long run. Fighter/Priest it is. Get back with me.
But it would really need to be a diety of magic or a war/magic type. If that isn't acceptable I can always go with something completely different.
