Two players needed!.... Keep on the Borderlands. CLOSED!

#1 Post by Bloodaxe »

Greetings.

Im new to Unseen Servant, been a lurker for a bit though. Mainly following the Slave pit PBP games. Some of my favorite adventures. Ive run several games at Goblinoid Games forums, but none here.
Ive been thinking of starting a new PBP game here.
Labyrinth Lord Basic rules, Level 1, straight 3d6 in order, 3d6 x10 gold, roll two dice for HP at start, keeping the highest. Its a tough old world.
I roll all dice, real dice, right here at my computer desk. No links for dice rolls needed. I don't fudge, you die, then you die. You just make decisions for your character, then we see how it goes.

The adventure would be The Keep on the Borderlands & the Caves of Chaos.

If interested, post here.

Thanks.
B.A.

Sounds fun! I played that adventure 30+ years ago and would love to play it again... ;)
Role me a cleric! We going to explore the Keep also?

I'm struggling to keep up with the characters I'm currently controlling, but wanted to welcome you to the boards and share that I think your game sounds great. I'll definitely be lurking. :)

Welcome, again!

Your base will be the Keep, you can explore it somewhat.

Kind of mediocre stats, but can still be a Cleric.

The realm of mankind is narrow & constricted. Always the forces of Chaos press upon its borders, seeking to enslave its populace, rape its riches, and steal its treasures. If it were not for a stout few, many in the realm would indeed fall prey to the evil which surrounds them. Yet, there are always certain exceptional & brave members of humanity, as well as individuals among its allies- dwarves, elves & halflings - who rise above the common level and join battle to stave off the darkness which would otherwise overwhelm the land. Bold adventurers set off for the Borderlands to seek their fortune. It is these adventurers who, provided they survive the challenge, carry the battle directly to the enemy. Such adventurers meet the forces of Chaos in a testing ground where only the fittest will return to relate the tale. These few will become skilled in their profession, be it fighter, or magic-user, cleric or thief. They will be tried in the fire of combat, those who return, hardened & more fit.

You are indeed members of that exceptional class, who journeyed to the Keep on the Borderlands in search of fame & fortune. Of course you are inexperienced, but you have skills , and a heart that cries out for adventure. You have it in you to become great, but you must gain experience, knowledge, and greater skill. Your fate is in your hands.

Ahead,up a winding road, atop a sheer walled mount of stone, looms the great Keep. Here, at one of civilizations strongholds between good lands & bad, you will base yourselves and equip for forays against the wicked monsters who lurk in the wilds. Somewhere nearby , amidst the dark forests and tangled fens, are the caves of Chaos, where fell creatures lie in wait.
All this you already know, but before you dare such adventure, you must become acquainted with the other members of your group. Each life will depend on the ability of the others to cooperate against the common foe. Now, before you enter this grim fortress , is the time for introductions, and an exchange of information. For fate has decreed that you are to become an adventurous band who must pass through many harrowing experiences together on the path to greatness.

Got room for one more? I've never actually played "Keep..." and feel that it would do a lot for my OSR cred'. I also like the idea of the DM doing all the rolling for a PbP game; I've GMed PbP where I didn't do that, and it was torturous a lot of the time.

Marda the Red, Dwarf in Bloodaxe's "Keep on the Borderlands" using "Labyrinth Lord"
Gwinn Aldreed, Half-Elf Thief/Mage in Rukellian's "Fabricator of Planes" using "OSRIC"

The key is to gather together great people and bring them all together in one spot.
8-)
We got that hear at Unseen Servant.
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Hello, would enjoy joining the party if there is room. Old grognard here, long on experience but just recently joined the Forum. Hope to tell weave tales of action in your game.
