Bold Function selects all before placing tags

Sometimes I highlight the first word in a post (like a character name) and try to use the Bold button and it automatically highlights the entire paragraph and places the Bold tags around it.

It doesn't do it every time, but it is often enough to see that it isn't something I'm doing.

Anyone else ever notice this? Or know why it might be doing that?

I don't know if it was with the tag specifically, but I've had that happen to me before. Come to think of it, I want to say I've had that happen with the

tag.

Yes. I think it happens on other tags, as dmw71 stated.

If you accidentally highlight just a bit before the beginning of your text, you end up grabbing the formatting that surrounds the text box as well and a use of any tag will surround the whole thing. It's like with the dice roller: sometimes if you highlight just too liberally when copying and pasting output, you end up snagging the little descriptor text as well.

Ah, so easy fix, then! I just need to Display Paragraphs so I can see the formatting markers!
