Got it. I think I have a concept in mind and now have been started to manipulate the character into fitting that concept.

Yes, that's actually by-the-book in Pathfinder. You roll for all future levels, though.

I am considering a house rule here, similar to how Gary did in his game, where you could simply accept an average, pre-determined hit point amount instead of rolling, but I have enough other things to consider that I haven't bothered to really think about this too much.

How so?

Oh.

Probably because you were editing an existing post (not creating a new one), I didn't see an update in the forum and didn't realize all the work you had already done. Definitely go ahead and keep working on what you're building. We'll use him and see. (Consider it a perk of being a beta (or alpha?) tester.

I haven't looked that closely at every class in each of the books I excluded, but did consider the books on a whole and feel they each introduce far more power creep than I'm comfortable with. I think the core rules themselves allow a player to create a pretty powerful character, and the 'hybrid' classes in the 'Advanced Class Guide' are too strong.

I just noticed you were building a hunter. Why would anyone pick just a ranger, or just a druid, if they can get the best of both worlds by creating a hunter instead? I think the multi-class rules are pretty accommodating already, but are pretty unnecessary once these hybrid classes are in play.

Keep in mind, this is just my opinion without ever actually trying them, so maybe they're unwarranted concerns? I doubt it, but I suppose it is possible. (I do like, and will allow, the 'Advanced Race Guide', though! ;))

Again, keep building the hunter. We'll use him and see how it goes.

I was going to try for a half elf ranger, then when I got to the part where half elves got two favored classes, and I thought a Druid would be fun, THEN I saw the Hunter and thought pretty much what you said here.

I'll admit, I don't know, but does a half-elf hunter still get two favored classes? If so, a starting character of that build essentially gets three favored classes -- druid and ranger (via the hunter class) and whatever their "extra" class is. Maybe, with a high dexterity, rogue?

It just feels too powerful to me.

It (or any of the hybrid classes) basically render the core classes obsolete, and that I don't like.

Lol... Er... That's what I picked, yeah. :)

But that was just because I'm messing around.

You need more than high DEX to be a good rogue, though. Bad INT and you end up losing a bunch of your skills, which makes you less useful.
