Is any of the smoke rising from the tower, or is it all heavy smoke that stays on the ground?

No, Blixx is holding the hatch door shut and keeping the smoke in the lower chamber.

Bee Tower, Day 54 – Mid Afternoon
Round N4, continued

Blixx activates his vampiric field, and continues to listen against the cover.

Vamp. field = [2d4] = 7

Frekken takes another shot with his longbow, but cannot get the timing right to hit a bee.

Frank slings his rifle and braces himself on the outer edge of the tower. He signals Belial to lead the bees near to his position, so he can engage with his melee weapon.

Actions for the next round?

Jack hears the bee’s buzzing subside, as they move back down the vertical shaft. The former sheriff looks with concern at his mutant companion, who is leaning against the dirt wall; blinking but not moving.

Blixx hears the drone of the bees move down and away from the cover plate.

Frekken, Frank and Jiminy wait patiently for Belial to try and lead the bees closer to the top edge of the leaning tower.

Bee Tower, Day 54 – Mid Afternoon

Frekken and Jiminy witness a section of earth on the hill surrounding the tower mound up, crack and break open to discharge dozens of bees leading a larger bee surrounded by more bees. Thin wisps of smoke wrap around the bees as they exit, but the dark fog is soon drawn back into the gaping hole left by the fleeing insects. The swarm takes flight and heads in a south easterly direction while the bees pursuing Belial change their path and join the distressed swarm.

Inside, Jack remains unaffected by the white smoke from the grenade which slowly subsides, but is soon replaced by darker smoke originating from below. He sees the square hatch cover in the circular deck, held by Blixx, open once again against the bottom side of the upper tower allowing light to enter this part of the tower. The thick, dark soot begins to fill the dirt chamber that the stunned Bart and Jack are in. Jack begins to wonder if his primitive, turtle-urine mask will function much longer. He starts to notice a temperature rise inside the chamber and his vision starts to become obscured, even with the bright light shining in from the upper tower.

Blixx levitates back up the tower just in time to see the Frank watch the bees fly away. Blixx and Frank smell the thick, dark smoke as is rises up through the open deck hatch and vents through the top of the open tower, like a chimney.

Actions?

Jack tries to get Bart to come too by shaking him and a tap to the shoulder "Bart we gotta get out of this hive." them making way to the held hatch trying to knock on it to get Blixx to let them out shouting at the hatch "Blixx it's me Jack let us through the hatch we won't last long in here!"

Frank watches the bees fly away with confusion, then hears his companions' shouts and he quickly slings his rifle (after ejecting the round in the chamber and catching it to put in his pocket); and shimmies down to see what he can do to help. He'll try to help keep the hatch open so his friends can get out of there......

Jack and Blixx collectively move Jack across the deep void between the cavern and the nest, through the hatch, and into the upper tower. As you pass over the gap, the flicker of flames can be seen some 50 feet below through the streams of thick, black smoke. The air temperature continues to rise and dark soot obscures your vision.

Frank arrives with a ‘thud’ after shimmying down the ancient, metal ladder. He offers assistance in moving the paralyzed Amispi clan member, barely visible through the choking smoke.

OOC: Who, besides Jack, is wearing a gas mask?
