The Gam'A Zone, Day 30, Night
You have chosen to make a stand against the bees. The drot swyne have been cut loose and the cart stripped of any burnable materials. Several of you collect what burnable foliage is around and begin to build a fire against the impending swarm. Others stand fast and prepare to attack when the bees get within range.
1. Are you going to demolish the cart for fuel?
2. Are you building one fire or several?
3. What is the shape of the fire(s)? Line, pile, circle, arc, other?

Cthul Hand Luke, mutant
Luke moves to the fire, hoping the smoke will save them, as he takes aim with his rifle. When they get within range he'll fire.

Re: CHAPTER 3: Across the Gam’A Zone
Belial is still in the air. He suddenly yells, Awesome! and flies directly at the swarm.
His plan is this: Get close to the swarm. Yell and flail to get their attention. Fly within easy ranged-weapon distance of the team. Fly in circles, hopefully leading the swarm to chase him- within range of the others, so they can pick off the bees.

Frank will help to set up the fires in a circular pattern and then move to take out his Bow and arrows; not wanting to waste valuable ammunition for this Rifle on these bees....

I vote circle but with two gaps. How's the wind? If the flyers can evaded the bees i think Urson might be on to something.

damn! I was hoping a low altitude funnel gunnel would blow Oor-zak's spear into a bee. I've seen it at the airport a hundred times.Norjax wrote:...

Bruze Whane, mutant bat:
Knowing he can't outfly the minions of Hhaanq-Pimm, and forbidden by the One True Church to use missile weapons, Bruze stands in the eye of the smoke storm, ready to savagely slash any bees that make it through the wall of fire.

The Gam'A Zone, Day 30, Night
Combat, Round 1
With great haste, you break-down the cart and gather the pieces for fire wood. Adding the collected burning foliage and available oil, you create several piles and make a circle large enough for everyone to stand inside. The piles easily ignite, creating plumes of dense smoke with a somewhat pungent odor. The bee swarm circles the fire ring, staying around 20 feet from the edges of the smoke plumes. Missiles fire from Bart, Oor-zak & Luke all miss the mark, while the others wait their turn.
The fires and smoke are keeping the bees at bay for Round 1. Any others who wish to fire missile weapons may do so for this round. The bees will not come into melee range, so those wishing for melee (in flight) will have to move and engage.

Blixx
After helping with the fires Blixx soaks a bandana over his nose and mouth and waits for the bees inside the ring wrench at the ready
Initiative [1d10+1] = 3+1 = 4
To Hit [1d20] = 16
Wrench Mace[1d6] = 5
in case they come thru the smoke veil

Eyes stinging from the smoke, Oor-Zak throws another spear at the circling bees, only to watch it veer off target.

Frank Rock; veteran Human
Frank sees that the bees are likely to remain out of range and with a shrug, he'll sheath his longsword and pull out his Bow, nock an arrow and line up a shot as he doesn't want to waste precious rifle ammunition....
OOC: If aiming for a round improves Frank's chances of scoring a hit, he'll wait a round and then fire an arrow....and repeat if the bee swarm doesn't move closer.

The Gam'A Zone, Day 30, Night
Combat, Round 1, continued
Ghar moves to engage the swarm, extending his polearm with maximum effort and striking one of the bees for 2 points of damage. The bee is knocked out of the swarm, but returns to circling the smoke.
Jack fires his crossbow, but shoots wide and misses.
Blixx, Frank and Bruze delay their attacks and wait for a better opportunity.
I will say that aiming for a round will allot a +1 to hit for the next round.
The smoke from the fires appears to be working, because the bees are keeping their distance. A quick review determines that you have enough fuel to keep the fires burning for about an hour (60 combat rounds).
Actions for Round 2?
Oor-zak has declared his action for round 2 & Frank indicated he will fire his arrow in round 2.

Concerned about his limited ammo, Luke holds off firing again for the moment.
