Chapter 15 - To the Liberated City of Strod...and Below
Re: Chapter 15 - To the Liberated City of Strod...and Below
Chet has his spetum ready, but not holding it in a threatening way. He tries to maintain a non-threatening voice as he asks "Who are you, and what happened here?"

Based on the posts, I'm going to assume that Galan and Figgis tried to creep in unnoticed. Let me know if this isn't the case. DM rolls dice.Zhym wrote:Angus puts a hand on Ilfrien's sword, but does not draw—yet. "Got a mite bit of trouble down here we aim to settle," he says. "Who are y'all? I reckon you and the orcs ain't the best of pals, judging by all these skulls?"
"We have no friends down here" replies the apparent spokesperson of this abhorrent quartet as his eyes track Galan entering the room. He turns to his left, and speaks in what can scarcely be recognized as a language before addressing the party again. "But you can help us" he says with a nasty grin.
With that, the evil-looking creature to his left begins moving his arms in the way that spellcasters often do.
In front, armed with the jagged swords, are the two other creatures. They smile evilly at Chet and Hyde as they move their swords slightly to and fro. They seem to welcome, and hope for, an attack.
Actions?
Here's an updated map (finally, a practical use of Power Point). Yes, that's a closed door in the southwest corner. There door to the north, which was kicked in, remains fully open:
And a blow-up of the room to show current positions. Sw1 and Sw2 are the two sword-bearing creatures, talker and caster? should be self-explanatory. Thank you all for having character names that begin with exclusive letters![/ooc]

"Nice chat," quips Angus. He grabs Bloody Useless with his left hand and his last magic arrow with his right, slotting one into the other in a single fluid motion to fire quickly at the spell caster.

Since Angus wasn't holding the bow to start, please give me an initiative for his first missile fire. Thanks!Zhym wrote:"Nice chat," quips Angus. AAAAAAAAA!!! Already on edge, Hyde will have no part of being victimized by these nasty beings, whatever they are. He charges SW2. If his mighty swing somehow does not slay the creature, his roar will certainly deafen it.

Oops, used the wrong damage roll for Chet. Edited the post above.

Re: Chapter 15 - To the Liberated City of Strod...and Below
Sensing hostile actions, Angus draws his bow and fires at the scaly, man-like creature waving his fingers. The magical arrow, last in the quiver, whizzes through the air and penetrates the thick skin of its target's right arm. It hisses in anger, but doesn't appear to be too badly wounded by the missile. Its angry gaze turns to Angus.
Figgis appears from the shadows, eyes bearing down on his nearest foe. With a nearly imperceptible movement, he flips a dagger that bounces harmlessly off the scales of his target. The dwarf begins to retreat.
"STOP!!!" yells the putative leader of the quartet. "You are worth more to us alive than dead!!!"
But his shouts go unheeded.
Chet, not to be denied a place in the battle, charges. But his enemy is waiting with a swing of its two-handed sword. Its serrated blade cuts open the monk's chest!
Creature attack Chet [1d20] = 12, [1d100] = 49, [1d10] = 9
Chet responds with fury to his pain and the demonic laughter of his opponent. The monk drives his spetum deep into its chest. The laughter turns to a shriek of rage as thick blood pours from three wounds. It's moderately wounded and will fight on.
Hyde charges next. His enemy is also waiting, driving the tip of its blade between Hyde's armor. Its strike is not as true, though it does draw blood from the half-orc.
Creature attack Hyde [1d20] = 17, [1d100] = 74, [1d10] = 4
Hyde responds much more effectively. With his prodigious strength, he opens a wound from shoulder to waist in his foe, repaying him nearly three-fold.
Yenny roots around in her pockets for a vial of holy water, and begins her prayers to Veles. Dandelion charges towards the talkative baldie. Not to be outdone by Hyde, she puts on her own display of strength, opening three jagged wounds in her foe with her trident. These creatures are incredibly agile, but our heroes are up to the task. Fire in its eyes, it pounces at Dandelion with its two black, razor-sharp claws. With grace rivaling that of the finest ballerina, she avoids the first. The second rakes across her face ever so slightly, just enough to draw blood.
Creature attack Dandelion [1d20] = 1, [1d20] = 18, [1d100] = 38, [1d100] = 33
Damage to Dandelion [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2
The warrior princess hardly feels a thing.
Kablamicus, either in confusion or in a ruse to avoid danger, inquires as to what exactly is going on. He hangs back in the hallway with his owl.
Galan takes a few steps towards the creature with an arrow in its left arm and unleashes a spray of color in its direction!
[1d100] = 73
Eyes trained on Angus, it hardly takes notice.
Angus unleashes another arrow, but his target deftly dodges it. Figgis, not wanting to throw into melee, flings another dagger at the caster. It hits, cause a slight scratch in its arm before clattering to the ground.
Yenny continues to chant, though many of her party - already engaged in melee - will not receive the benefit of his favor.

Assuming she loses it in any case, she continues to cast. Perhaps there will be somebody still out of melee...Yenny will finish her Bless spell in the 4th segment of the upcoming round if she continues to cast it.
