They're dead, Jim...

Didn't DeForest Kelley have that put on his tombstone?

Like Hyde had a go at my leg with his axe. I'm getting along, had my 1st physical therapy a couple of hours ago and did better than I suspected. I'll be back to rock-climbing in no time. :)
Good news! Hope you recover quickly...

Chet's player has informed me that he'll follow the majority of the party, so if most want to go right instead of downstairs, he'll follow. I'll use that to inform my next update.

If we're done with the prison (venturing into it, anyway), mind telling us where you got it from?
On a periodic check to make sure I tie up loose ends, the name of the adventure was Maze of the Blue Medusa. I changed a couple of (minor) things, but was mainly running it BtB. I seem to remember somebody offering to start up a game of it here. I don't think it's well suited to PbF after our experience...

Googling that, it looks even more gonzo than I'd thought. Probably not suited to PbP, as you say, and maybe not a great drop-in to most campaigns. Pretty wacky-looking, though.

Yeah, I thought there were some interesting concepts there. And the book is of very high quality. My initial thought was that it would be an alternative to more conventional game play if you players were interested in it.

I also liked that it was possible to find out a lot about the place with minimal combat. That can be fun face to face, and I like that concept generally, but I got the feeling it became pretty dull for all of you given the slow pace of forum-based play. I think the pendulum swung too far in the direction of information gathering and putting together puzzles for our purposes, though.

The 'end' of the place was actually determined randomly, though, according to the rules in the book.

It looks like it could be a lot of fun. But you'd want a party (and a group of players) who know what they're in for.

I wonder if it would be possible to make it work in PbP. One issue is that it's a combination of gonzo *and* apparent deadliness. We probably would have made more progress if we didn't think that one wrong move could have killed us.

Hm. I wonder if it could be adapted into a Paranoia module.

Ha ha. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?

Being a northerner, it's funny to hear which parts of the southern vernacular my son is picking up.

Well, y'all is eminently useful. The English language needs a word for the plural of "you."

Where it gets weird is the parts of the deep south where "y'all" is singular.

Hey onlyme, is Dandelion going to act this round or continue to guard the rear?

Waiting on word from onlyme and Nuke66 then I'll have an update.

What's the difference between a northern girl and a southern girl? A northern girl says, "You can," a southern girl says, "You all can."

The magical arrow, last in the quiver, whizzes through the air and penetrates the thick skin of its target's right arm. It hisses in anger, but doesn't appear to be too badly wounded by the missile. Its angry gaze turns to Angus.

Angus unleashes another arrow, but his target deftly dodges it.
Angus's THAC0 is 17. First roll: 14. Second roll: 13.

So. AC 3, then. :D And 6 points of damage has lightly injured it. A spell caster with AC 3 and lots of HP is not good news.

Just to clarify...

The first arrow did 3 points of damage and the dagger 1, so it was 4 hp.

Another way to look at the hit and subsequent miss was that the caster was using magical powers and so did not have the benefit of a DEX bonus. And that it did with the second shot.
