OOC III
Re: OOC III
Alebelly,
Can those of us who are still visible talk OOC about our next move, or do we need to mime it IC? And if so, how much of the surprise segment would that use up?

Re: OOC III
Those visible could communicate non-verbally. So you wouldn't be able to formulate complex plans, but could communicate basic directions (for instance, you cast spells here, I'll go to the left would be OK, but "I'm going to go 60', stop, tap dance, etc.)
Let's say the dragon will have a 10% chance of noticing the party for each segment beyond the first surprise segment.
Also, Ilfrien and Chet will obviously be able to see the others.

Re: OOC III
Can we coordinate that here, or do we need to do it IC? Normally, I'd be all about doing it IC, but posting what everyone is miming has the potential to get confusing real quick.

Re: OOC III
OOC is fine, just please keep it in the spirit of hand motions.
Re: OOC III
The basic question Angus wants to ask is this: do we attack now, or back up and make an attack plan with our words?

Re: OOC III
Or you could just shorthand the miming.
"Arnulf mimes that he's about to shit himself. Again."
That sort of idea?
(That's not his action. I have one ready to go but want to wait until we've sorted this out here. Potential TPK is strong here, so I think it would be prudent to have things right before proceeding!)

Re: OOC III
If Ilfrien is willing to attack unarmored (too bad we have no way to know), then having her and Chet attack from the far side of the dragon would turn it around and give us a round to run up from behind.
Our biggest challenge is keeping it on the ground.

Re: OOC III
I'm guessing Storm11 didn't read what was being discussed here, nor fully read Alebelly's in-game post before posting his action? Are we pooched? If we're only 110 feet away and talking, it'll have heard us... Arnulf will make a tasty schnak...

Re: OOC III
So will Tempus, if his spell takes a turn to cast and the dragon can hear him.
I'm going to wait to post Angus's action until we know whether Tempus was speaking aloud or if he managed to mime all that.

Re: OOC III
Ami think I might have missed a section. What's with all the miming? And how are the invisible people miming? Am confused! Wouldn't we have heard the dragon way before we saw it. If we can withdraw without being seen into some cover Tempus will gesture for everyone to do so and withdraw before we make a plan.
Greys Campaign.

I asked about it in this thread starting about nine posts up.

Re: OOC III
Yeah, in the in game thread, AB mentioned that Ilfrien and Chet wouldn't be able to speak without alerting the dragon, hence the discussion of the rest of us miming.
I like the idea of the lightning though - so if Tempus can get us to retreat far enough back to discuss it, that could be pretty awesome.

Re: OOC III
Alebelly, how far back would we have to retreat to be able to talk without alerting the dragon?

Re: OOC III
You'd need to walk back for a minute to disengage from the encounter.

Happy Fake Thanksgiving!

I can't be the only one looking forward to seeing Chet punch the dragon right in the snout, right?

Re: OOC III
Ilfrien had an incredible damage roll on her backstab (2d12 + 7 = 27). Things would have taken quite a heroic bent if the to hit roll wasn't so bad. Such is the game...one reason I like it so much. Keeping my fingers crossed for her...
Re: OOC III
Yeah, I would have gladly traded the first useless round's roll for that one. I think I hit AC -2 or something.
