The New Mother of Dragons
Round 4

Trotter gets his bow strung and fires off another arrow that he thumps perfectly into the lifeless body of the snow demon overhead. Halo finally snaps out of his long distance stare and rushes into the room. He stops under the illusion of Mira's dragon. Blodget panics once he realizes what Yesorkh is trying to do. He covers himself again and rushes for the safety of the doorway before the whole place bursts into dragon flame.

Dragon mother Mira begins conjuring another baby, this one from her precious book.

She brings it to life in mid air, near the prone form of the demons body that is still perched above the doorway. The confident white wizard also casts a spell on the unmoving carcass of Yesorkh, it seems to take no effect whatsoever on her lifeless body.

The black smoke form of Yesorkh realizes quickly that she cannot possess this obvious soulless illusion. It doesn't take her long to think up a new tactic. Why would she bother possessing one dragon, when she can possess the person who is now controlling two of them? Her misty form leaves the first bronze beast and dives straight at the vulnerable Mira's fragile frame. Xano shoots at the mist with her bow, but the arrow seems to pass right through her insubstantial form. Mira, save vs. Spells please. Take any action if you pass. You and your dragons will do everything in you power to destroy the party if you fail. :)

You fly through the doorway and see a short empty hallway with another door at its end. You easily spot even more blood on the ground outside the next misty door. You can hear loud grunting, screeching, and the sounds of battle coming from beyond. Is it possible that you have finally caught up with the rest of the group?

Halo activates his boots when he is under the prone form of the Demoness and soars towards the body, sword poised. When he is level he lops off the monsters head and the stabs the body through the heart.

Save vs Spell: [1d20] = 16
The foul air of the smoke-Demon causes Mira to shiver involuntarily, but her will does not weaken. Blodget, Halo, the GEMS! The great Ape is wearing the gems which house this Demon's essence! She then directs her attention to siccing her Dragons on the smoking foulness, and pulls her wand.

Blodget, halfling thief:

Moments ago, the foolish little hobbit was proudly fighting alongside the greatest heroes of the age. But now he knew that was folly. Mighty wizards and demons have suddenly brought to bear black sorcery in an epic conflict that was far beyond his abilities or his understanding.

He quivered with fear at the arrival of twin dragons and the unleashing of the evil spirit's true essence. Then, above the din of the battle, he heard Mistress Mira calling his name. "Blodget, Halo, the GEMS! The great Ape is wearing the gems which house this Demon's essence!"

Blodget nodded, wiped his eyes, swallowed his fear and, hidden by his elven cloak, scurried forward to retrieve those gems!

If the limp body is still hovering, Blodget will climb up to reach it.

Xano hears Mira's warning to the others. If the real Yesorkh is wearing a necklace she fire her at necklace hopefully cutting it from around its neck.

The Ultimate Save
Round 5

Trotter and Xano look at each other in frustration, not really sure how to hurt either the mist, or the body. Xano shoots another arrow into the things body (missing the necklace) but it has little effect. Halo does not give up however as he runs straight for the door and begins to levitate up, smartly hoping to completely destroy the things earthly vessel. After hearing the words of Mistress Mira, Blodget also rushes towards the door and begins to climb up the wall to the apes body.

Mira of Dragons scrunches up her face tightly once the misty form attempts to possess her. She tries everything in her power to thwart off the attack and is eventually successful in resisting the demons advances into her mind. (That one successful roll may very well have saved the entire party from almost certain death. Nice one!) She pulls out her wand as she commands her two bronze shadow monsters to attack the misty smoke monster.

Once Yesorkh realizes that she cannot take over the strong mind of the dragon mother, she changes her tactics again. Seeing some of the group still trying to harm her body, she immediately flies back up to it. Both of Mira's monsters snap and claw at the smoke, but they seem unable to harm it in this form as well.

Wyntar gives a heartfelt salute to one of the groups old comrades. He uses his magic to try to convert the mist into a harmless rabbit as it flies away. For some reason his spells don't seem to be affecting the mist any more than the physical attacks are.

Once Yesorkh reaches her body again, the smoke immediately starts to seep back into the many openings. Within seconds, the great black snow demon becomes whole again. She screams loudly from the pain of the arrows that are now sticking out of her. She then screeches down towards the levitating paladin, (which doesn't phase him in the least) who has floated about half way up to her position.

She looks around a bit, possibly showing some fear from being totally outnumbered. Suddenly she has an idea how to keep the illusionary bronze brutes away from her. She drops off the doorframe again and glides backwards through the door into the much smaller treasure room beyond.

Actions!

Even though she only used movement, that still seems like a lot of action for one round. Therefore, I will allow the closest person to her (Halo) one free attack as she passes above him. Please include that attack roll at the beginning of your next post.

I am not sure if Mira's semi-real phantasms would fit through the door to get into the next room or not. I will leave that up to you to determine. (your argument better be convincing)

Morgi:
You enter into a huge room that is filled with stuff, but everything that you see looks utterly destroyed. There is junk and rubbish lying around everywhere. This room is a torrent of action and the screeching noise that fills the air is offensive to your ears, even through the wax. (I don't actually remember if you still have the wax in your ears. If not, please save vs. Spells at +4)

In the center of the room stands the massive cloud giant, Lachlan. He is currently doing battle with 4 of the white snow demons that have recently reentered the castle and we're looking for their leader. The giant has one dead creature in his huge hand that he is using to slap away at the others as they fly in at him to attack. He looks completely exhausted, barely able to stand, and about to succumb to their relentless attacks.

There is an open door at the opposite end of this massive room. You see that beyond the door is another set of stairs leading down.

Blodget, halfling thief:

"Oh my!" gasps the foolish little hobbit from the center of this legendary battle of the supernatural. Yesorkh goes right by him as he clings to the wall!

Remembering M'Lady Mistress Mira's instructions, he scrambles down, pulls up his elven cloak's hood, and scampers after the sinister simian sorceress, still trying to get those gems!

oo I hope she's size large :D

Halo cries out in the name of Pelor as the black witch flies by, striking out with the sunsword.

PbP Forum code: initiative [1d10] = 1
Sunblade [1d20+7] = 18+7 = 25 : [2d4+10] = 3+10 = 13 : [2d8+10] = 14+10 = 24

He will reverse the vertical movement of the boots after his strike and sink back to the floor.

Trotter sends a volley of arrows after the demoness, if he can get a clear shot (DM"s decision)

Bow w bracers of archery & dex bonus attack [1d20+3] = 6+3 = 9, dmg [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7
2nd shot [1d20+3] = 8+3 = 11, dmg [1d6+1] = 3+1 = 4

With those rolls, I doubt it matters.

A shriek of sheer rage and frustration involuntarily forces it's way from deep within Mira, her resources quickly vanishing. She aims her wand and fires another Sunburst beyond the small door once the Ape-Demon has entered. Xano may almost be frightened at the lovely face smeared by hatred as the Mystic beckons her to approach.

Halo, your aura of defense against evil is only effective if you yet live! Do NOT follow her yet!!
(your argument better be convincing)
Nope. No logical way to explain this off.  Well played! Wand Ch's modified.

The Mother Load
Round 6

As Yesorkh dives past Halo in the doorway, he thrusts up hard with his sunblade. He slices a real wound into her back as the glides into the next room screaming. She quickly flies upwards again, above the height of the doorframe, causing both Trotter and Xano's arrows to fly past underneath her.

Blodget jumps back off the wall he was climbing and chases after Yesorkh. When he enters the room he is absolutely flabbergasted*. Halo sees this action and follows the lead of the little thief, also descending back to the ground using his magic boots so he can follow behind his kinfolk.

Mira is absolutely furious and she isn't afraid to let it be know. She yells for Halo to cease his pursuit and beckons Xano to come to her. As she does this, she also fires her light wand into the next room. The result of which is an instantaneous burst of greenish white light that erupts from beyond the doorway. The group hears the demon squealing again and Blodget notices that she is rubbing her eyes with her hands as she flies towards the back of the room.

The white wizard resorts back to an action that he never misses with. Tiny missiles of energy shoot from his staff. They fly into the room and unerringly strike the ba'atun queen mother. She screams out again, not even able to see where the damage came from. She flies up closer to the ceiling, out of the wizards line of sight.

*Now that you get a closer look into the smaller room where she's fled, you can see that it is absolutely jammed full of treasure. It is filled with more coin, gems, jewelry, and other valuable items than any of you have ever seen in one place before. If the room wasn't only 30'x40', you would swear that a dragon must live in here.

Can I get everyone to include a save vs. Breath in your next post please.

Actions!

When you take your actions, please keep in mind that Blodget and Halo are the only ones who can actually see Yesorkh right now. The rest of you will need to move closer to the doorway or inside of the room if you want to target her.

Save: [1d20] = 2 This looks ugly. The following is what might happen if Mira does not die!

Mira is still glowering at the tiny portal and hissing as Xano comes close. The dark Mystic throws open her tome and again recites. She reaches to touch her Elven companion.

Invisibility.

She flies, you do not. Wait for your time.
