The white wizard agrees to Halo's plan of attack, mentioning that he is now also willing to cast spells directly from his book. He doesn't know if it is possible to charm a possessed creature, but he is willing to lose the spell permanently in order to try to save the life of the cloud giant.

The mage begins casting protection spells around himself when his temporarily acute hearing tips him off to the sound of footfalls coming down the tower stairs on the other end of the hall. Could the hobgoblins be returning with a larger force?

The trio in the stairway tower pass the first floor level, finding even more blood in the room as they pass it. (C10) Seeing no signs of action, they continue their descent. They pass a lone hobgoblin along their way, but he gives them a wide birth on the massive set of stairs. He shows fear and appears to be content to let you pass him by.

Trotter threatens the hobgoblin with his sword. Which way?he demands in goblin.

Am I right to assume that the three of us are in the great hallway in the lower level?

You three are still descending the tower stairway, but they lead into the great hall on the lower level.

The hobgoblin points you towards the base of the stairs and the massive hall beyond. He holds his empty hands out towards you, hoping that you don't kill him.

Against the Giant
Round 15

Mira, Trotter, and Xano continue down the stairs, past the lone hobgoblin. They enter the enormous lower level hallway. It stands completely empty. The blood trail continues to the east. Feel free to continue with the Hobgob if there was something else that you wanted to do. I just wanted to get everyone at least back on the same level.

As the footsteps from the stairs get closer, Halo, Wyntar, and Blodget rush through the last misty door that they saw the giant enter. (C20) Unlike the rest of the castle, when they enter this room, they see nothing but total darkness in front of them. They stop just inside the doorway of the room, not sure which way to continue on. Just then a loud crash can be heard. It sounded like a huge rock being smashed against the wall behind them. Chips of stone and dust hit them in the back as they stand inside the darkness.

Mira do you have a spell to get these winged beast from following us.
Yes, of course, if there are but two. I will need the both of your swords to dispatch them once the spell is cast. For now, allow me a moment. You are both sorely injured and you need relief, if only of a temporary sort, if we are to defeat this foe! The mystic again opens her spellbook and reads:

Dispel Exhaustion, Trotter, Xano, & Mira.

We can move more quickly now, the better to pursue!

Spell removed from tome. I really wanted to wait until I could get Halo too.

Against the Giant
Round 16

Blodget and Wyntar realize immediately that they don't want to be crushed by flying rocks as Halo begins swinging his sword around, trying to light up this unnatural darkness. Almost instantly the light begins to overcome the black around the holy warrior.

The tiny thief bravely rushes forward, also hoping to get out of the darkness. After moving ahead about 15 feet, he can see again. He squints his eyes from the sudden light and sees that he is in an another enormous room that must have been used for storage. He hides behind a huge couch that has been ripped apart as he hurriedly surveys the room. He sees that everything in here has been smashed to pieces and the whole place is a disaster area. Common household items are broken and scattered everywhere. Along one wall there is a massive pile of normal looking normal sized weapons. The devastation to this once beautiful castle caused by Yesorkh and her army is truly sad to behold.

The thief spots the angry giant on the far side of the room, standing behind a large pile of rocks. Blodget steels himself and begins secretly making his way towards the huge beast. Noticing the light from Halo's sunsword dispelling the darkness gives the giant an easy target to throw his boulders at. One smashes into Halo so hard it almost knocks him unconscious. 12 dam Wyntar decides that he will help out by quickly backing out of the room.

Mira, Trotter, and Xano continue following the blood drops into the huge hallway that leads across the long floor, towards another misty doorway. (C20) Mira stops the group, wishing they were still with the others. She casts her spell to alleviate the groups fatigue, touching each of them as she does so. The trio suddenly feels much better as they sprint across the floor and head through the misty doorway. They rush down a short hallway and arrive at the next doorway just in time to see brave Wyntar backing up towards them through the mist door.

Morgi flies and waits.

Wincing in agony and staggering to regain his balance, Halo sees the end coming, but he cannot let the giant escape to spread its evil. Hoping to keep the creatures attention upon him for just a little longer to give the brave thief time to take it down from behind the paladin shines his glimmering sword high, cries "For mighty Pelors holy radiance!" and charges the giant, activating the ebony fly if he has the chance.

initiative [1d10] = 7 Sunblade [1d20+7] = 19+7 = 26 : [2d4+10] = 3+10 = 13 : [2d8+10] = 7+10 = 17

Not including +2 to hit from charge.

Wyntar hears voices...At first, I thought my ears were deceiving me... Now I see my eyes are not!!! The others are inside with the Giant, he's tossing boulders at us and Halo has taken a direct hit, he's in dire need of healing! Let's get in there and help them! He nods to them appreciatively and looks back around the door and into the room. He runs into the room and takes cover under the closest item.

Blodget, halfling thief:

Emboldened and inspired by the selfless, noble acts of Master Halo, little Blodget girds himself to join the heroic paladin and do what must be done!
Blodget Shortsword: [1d20+2] = 11+2 = 13, Damage: S/M: [1d6+2] = 2+2 = 4, Damage: L: [1d8+2] = 1+2 = 3
Backstab is +4 to hit. Blade adds +1 to hit and damage. If hits, then double damage for magic blade. Then quadruple damage for backstab.

Is he now? says Trotter who charges in. If he can he will subdue the giant with the flat of his sword!

Sword of Sharpness to hit [1d20+4] = 6+4 = 10, dmg v l [1d8+15] = 5+15 = 20
