Bromric sure did not - he wouldn't even LOOK at that chest.
It would be quite ironic if, after all that, we didn't even bring back the emerald that sort of kicked off the whole mess.

Yes, the emerald was one of the smaller square-cut gems included in the loot.

'I could ride my mule and make extra time, but I would have to travel light, and that still wouldn't provide enough mounts for everyone. I suggest we invest in the extra horse anyway, as a pack animal. It won't slow us down on the way there, and we can split the weight of whatever we find between the horse and my mule, to keep good time on our walk back.'
"I will ride on Bromric's pony as well, so these short legs are no burden," says the Visitor with Bromric's voice... and legs.

My understanding of LabLord rules is that mounts move at the same rate as tall people, so the only difference for them is encumbrance. Mounts DO double the movement for short races, though. If we potentially have a mule and horse (in addition to Bromric's pony) it might be best to put other short people on them. GM?
Yes, mounts don't necessarily increase your basic overland movement rate if you're human-sized unless you're pushing them. They do allow you to carry more while traveling at a given speed, of course, so a sufficiently strong horse can offset the movement penalty for wearing heavy armor or carrying lots of gear.

Ulf will take that as part of his cash share if no one minds.

Ulf will mention why when he finally answers Orrin in the tavern thread.

sorry everyone there has been a large amount of power outages in my area :(

Mokatah will gladly pocket the extra money, and he is ready to leave whenever everyone else is.

1.) Just to be clear...if you accept Zhym's plan for loot distribution, Mokatah won't get any 'extra' money...he'll get 81.5 gp total, while everyone else gets 550 gp. This is because he'd be getting 2 magic items (the helm and the lance). Does that work for you?
(sorry if this was already clear, just wanted to be sure there wasn't a misunderstanding)

2.) Is Mokatah willing to swear to aid the Visitor in his quest? If you say 'Aye', then he's willing to identify all the magic items. You implied yes earlier, but never made it explicit. Can you give us a yea/nay on the matter?

Also, Galen will take one of the diamonds as part of his share, unless anyone objects.

The extra was ten platinum, so that does make one extra coin for Mokatah as well unless you plan to redistribute it.

We'll take this assent as a yes to move forward, and consider the loot distribution closed for this expedition! On to bigger and better things!

Keehnelf, can you PM us all the Identification information and command words for the items? That way it is known to all present, but not necessarily on the public forum.

1 dire wolf defeated
2 wolves defeated

Treasure/Loot: 1,364xp
+1 longsword
114gp
floral ceramic flask (unknown contents)

This makes a total of 3,664xp, or 1,222xp per participant in the expedition, before bonus for high attributes. Of this, 774xp per person is assignable as item experience.
Add the 150 gp for the orc knight's head and that's 264 gp plus the sword no one wants to touch and the flask I'd forgotten about.

Ulf is the only one who can use the sword, but he already has a better weapon. Is there any way to sell the sword? Other than by posting a bulletin board notice? Converting it to cash to split might make the most sense if that's possible.

Sorry about dropping the ball on that expedition over the last couple of weeks. Real life sunk in without warning and I've been finding myself able to post only 1-2 times a week. Hopefully things are calming down a bit now.

Selling the sword is the most sensible thing. Ulf's got better stuff, and I can't think of anyone whose palms need to be greased by gifting it. If you haven't done so already, I'd prefer hitting the merchant caravan first and then posting to the bulletin board if a good deal can't be made.

Now that Ulf has traded the sword for a diamond worth 1,046 gp, the new loot total is:

264gp (includes 150gp for the orc knight's head)
Floral ceramic flask (unknown contents)
Diamond (1,046 gp)

Total: 1310 gp + whatever the flask contents are worth. 200-400, maybe?

Keehnelf, do you remember if anyone taste-tested the contents of the flask? I thought Ulf might have.

None of Ulf, Seadu, and Martin have enough cash on hand to buy the diamond as an equal share of about 500 gp each. Martin comes closest, though.

The closest to an even split I can come up with is:
  • Martin takes the diamond, and puts 20 pp, 4 25-gp gems, and one 100-gp gem in the pot. Net: 646 gp.
  • Ulf or Seadu takes the flask and 200 gp (some or all as gems). Value: 400-600?
  • The remaining PC takes the 464 gp (some or all as gems).
Starbeard, what do you think? I sort of hate to give the best share to the PC who has gone NPC (and take a nice diamond out of circulation), but that's the only way the shares come out anywhere near equal. A simpler but less fair split would be for each PC pick from the gem/money/flask with the NPC getting the last pick.

Okay. Ulf will unseal the flask somewhere out in the open and smell its contents. If they don't seem foul, he'll take a taste.

I'm loathe to give up the diamond too, but depending on what's in the flask I'd rather one of us keep that. If we can get a clue as to what it is, that should let us know who it would best serve.

Is there the possibility in town of having the diamond cut into thirds?
