Roseheart hears the cry of alarm then utters what everyone is thinking..'Ohhh Shit..." He follows Vek as needed and keeps an ear to the stairs down for any surprises.

Vek quickly cuts down the first guard.

However you hear voices from down the hallway and from above in the keep proper. There is a door, that had been propped open, but it doesn't look super sturdy. You shut it anyway.

Vek is now peering down a longish hallway, and a group of armed men are gathering in the middle of the hall. However, they are quickly shoved aside by the twisted thing as it lumbers quietly toward Vek.

It looks 9 or 10 feet tall, and appears to be sewn together from many men. It has no expression as it lumbers toward creaking at Vek with surprising speed.

Behind it the men are forming up into a group once more.

*you can only fight two abreast in this hall with regular weapons*

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:

Vek smiles despite himself. "Behind them lies only the Clerk and the Fatman,"
Seeing the sewn together monster and more "H" bearing men behind it, all laid out in a convenient straight line, Vek waits for Roseheart or Tella to send lightning down the corridor to devastate their foe's defenses.

Once the magical onslaught clears, then Vek charges down there to hack apart whatever remains of the giant horror.

Vek: +3 Long Sword: To Hit: [1d20+8] = 3+8 = 11 . Damage: S/M: [1d8+9] = 4+9 = 13 , L: [1d12+9] = 12+9 = 21 Hits AC 5 for max damage. :)

Glimble won't cast any spells until he can see the cleric or the not so fat man, otherwise he reloads his hand crossbow and waits out of the way of the melee battlers in the group.

Tella casts lightning bolt about 10 feet in front of Vek and running it down the hall toward the guards and big thing.

OCC: Spell deducted.

With a shriek Tells lightning bolt rips through the hallway in a brilliant streak. It passes through this hulking thing without even pausing the creature. However the men forming up behind it aren't so lucky. It locks them all down in jerking, smoking piles. In the aftermath only two are at and in and you aren't sure what had happened to the clerk.

The beast looms before vek and he gives him a nice cut along the chest. The beast actually makes a hissing noise, but then pops vek with a large punch (8damage).

Glimble tries to get a clear shot at the hulking beasts head and fires his hand crossbow. Hand Crossbow [1d20] = 12 to hit [1d3] = 3 dmg

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:

Seeing the lightning had no effect, Vek doesn't pause. In his artless, brutal fighting style, the grim killer wordlessly drives cold steel into the thing's chest.

Initiative: [1d10] = 3
Vek: +3 Long Sword: To Hit: [1d20+8] = 7+8 = 15 . Damage: S/M: [1d8+9] = 4+9 = 13 , L: [1d12+9] = 11+9 = 20 Almost max damage. :)

Roseheart considers his spell choices but waits - Vek will have better luck against this thing than what he has left at the moment. He keeps an eye to their backs.

Round 2 - fighting the hulk

Glimble fires an arrow whipasses through the huge thin harmlessly. Veks magical sword cuts another gouging chunk from the middle of the creature, but it responds with two massive blow ratlling vek about!
(21 damage!)

Vek and the beast are beating each other with horrible rending blows in near silence. The rest of you stand behind this line watching. If that creature takes out the fallen paladin, the rest of you won't last long.

From further down the hallway, you hear a popping noise, and the footsteps of more armed men gathering.

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:

Vek goes in reckless, looking to finish it. He swings wide and takes a savage beating. "Missile him, Tella," he croaks.

Vek: +3 Long Sword: To Hit: [1d20+8] = 1+8 = 9 . Damage: S/M: [1d8+9] = 2+9 = 11 , L: [1d12+9] = 2+9 = 11

Roseheart watches Vek take a devastating hit and unleashes a spell to hopefully have an effect on the thing. He moves his fingers quickly and utters, "Acidum sagitta melf" and a bolt of magical green something flies towards the beast.

Cast Melf's Acid Arrow at the thing

Enoka:

Enoka calls upon her children to help with the fight.
Summon Insects and instructs them to attack the thing.
Summon Insects
Sphere: Animal
Range: 30 yards
Components: V, S, M
Duration: 1 round/level
Casting Time: 1 round
Area of Effect: 1 creature
Saving Throw: None

The summon insects spell attracts a cloud or swarm of normal insects to attack the foes of the caster. Flying insects appear 70% of the time, while crawling insects appear 30% of the time. The exact insects called are bees, biting flies, hornets, or wasps, if flying insects are indicated; biting ants or pinching beetles, if crawling insects are indicated. A cloud of the flying type, or a swarm of the crawling sort, appears after the spell is cast. This gathers at a point chosen by the caster, within the spell's range, and attacks any single creature the caster points to.

The attacked creature sustains 2 points of damage if it does nothing but attempt to flee or fend off the insects during the time it is attacked; it suffers 4 points of damage per round otherwise. If the insects are ignored, the victim fights with a -2 penalty to his attack roll and a +2 penalty to his Armor Class. If he attempts to cast a spell, an initiative roll should be made for the insects to see if their damage occurs before the spell is cast. If it does, the victim's concentration is ruined and the spell is lost.

The insects disperse and the spell ends if the victim enters thick smoke or hot flames. Besides being driven off by smoke or hot flames, the swarm might possibly be outrun, or evaded by plunging into a sufficient body of water. If evaded, the summoned insects can be sent against another opponent, but there will be at least a 1 round delay while they leave the former opponent and attack the new victim. Crawling insects can travel only about 10 feet per round (maximum speed over smooth ground) and flying insects travel 60 feet per round. The caster must concentrate to maintain the swarm; it dissipates if he moves or is disturbed.

It is possible, in underground situations, that the caster might summon ld4 giant ants by means of the spell, but the possibility is only 30% unless giant ants are nearby. This spell does not function under water.

Tella - Elf Mage

Unsure if magic effects the creature, since the lightning bolt did not seem to do anything, Tella casts magic missile hoping to do something.

OCC: Spell deducted.

Glimble decides that the hand crossbow's silence is no longer needed and puts the thing back and reaches for his boomstick but refuses to fire with friends in the line of fire so casts a spell instead uttering the blessings of Gond upon Vek casting Bless onto Vek and the rest of the group.
