11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
Roseheart, the chest is pretty small, perhaps 14 or 16 inches wide, maybe 8-10 deep, and 8-10 high. However it is pretty heavy as if nearly completely full with coin. You can feel a shift when you move it.
You guys head forward through the forest and then you hear cracking noises from in front of you. Out of the swaying rhythm of the underbrush starts to emerge a line of figures, perhaps humanoid and impossible to make out quite yet, but definitely coming your way through the thick of the forest...

Tella, the forest is thick so they aren't that far away from you. You would guess around 400-500 ft. The may know you are there, but they havent cried out or anything.
You could try turning in the other direction quickly, and try to move back and then around so that you could try a flanking maneuver. If you guys either move forward or hold your ground the will meet you in a few moments.

You aren't super far away, you guys only went into the forest until you had good cover and a nice spot for camping, it will probably thin out to thick brush in 1000-2000 ft? You are in the forest proper right now.

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
Vek leads the group in a flanking maneuver, hoping they won't be noticed in the thick foliage. His sword is still unsheathed.

I'm confused I thought we were packing up camp and moving away from the forest?

OCC: Same here, I would rather the encounter happens out of the forest if possible or not at all. Otherwise I guess we try to flank an unknown opponent.GreyWolfVT wrote:I'm confused I thought we were packing up camp and moving away from the forest?

Enoka:
Enoka moves along with Vek and the party to flank the approaching figures. She whispers to the group "if need be I can entangle them within the undergrowth if they prove hostile."

Ooc - you guys started to try and leave the forest but as you were slipping out you ran into a fairly large group of humanoids seeming to be hiking directly at your position.
You huddle together and decide on a flanking maneuver. With Vek at the lead you double back, begin moving sideways and trying to flank around the incomers.
Vek roll another 1d10.

Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
It was really good...
As you are executing your flanking maneuver, something just doesn't feel right to Vek. He slows to a stop, listening, and then realizes that the group of humanoids has changed direction, they are coming right at you again! They are still too far away to make out clearly, but they are now closing the distance once more. You guys are moving with extreme caution, but something must have tipped them off...
Then Enoka hears something in the Forest, another cracking noise like the one that Tella heard. They must have some kind of invisible or well hidden scout! This scout sounds like it it only 20 ft from your position, right now!
*let me know how you guys react once you realize this, the scout can likely see you, and your reactions...*

Glimble unsure of what the heck is going on stands armored armed and ready to blast anything with his firearm. But also readies to cast a spell if need arises.

Roseheart places the chest on the ground. He readies to hit the scout with his color spray spell should it approach closer.

Enoka:
Enoka nods to Vek and removes her holy symbol of Bralm. She starts to chant and performs an array of holy gestures and focuses her energy in the area of the cracking noise.
Cast Entangle. 40 ft cube centered 20 feet in the direction of the noise.

As Enoka's spell trails away from her lips a crackling noise emanates from the direction that the scout might have been in, you hear thee bushes trees and undergrowth shaping its way into an impenetrable tangle.
Looking into that mess you aren't sure if you can see the scout.
You wait for a moment and then a near strangled, guttural war cry whoops out of the line of humanoids past the entanglement. You hear them shift into a run, pushing through the forest with abandon now. You can't really see them yet, but they are surely orcs.
Then out of nowhere two small fireballs lob through the trees coming at your group. Enoka and Glimble, roll saving. throws
Everybody else roll a dex check.
