7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
You head down en-masse to the grate that Vek found with Wally, a blind alley off Nelnuks Walk. The opening is still, gaping with the metal grate pushed a few feet away. You head down the black hole into the sewer, the smells that waft up are special and defy description. There is a walkway/ledge several feet above the river of slime, and you walk several yards before finding the secret passage that Wally talked about, it leads into a small space, there are cuttings from several ropes, this is where they bound the youths. A tunnel runs down at perhaps a 45 degree angle in the wall of this niche, very treacherous and slippery looking. And it is only ~3 foot in diameter, so a tight fit for a few of you. Somebody scratched into the concrete above the slime covered damp hole "the slide"...

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
Vek continues, breathing through his mouth and determinedly following Wally's directions as best as he is able.
"We descend here," he whispered. The warrior looked for something to tie a rope to, for use in slowly climbing down the slide.

Cormack
"Smells worse than stepping into the pits of Hell." Cormack will look on the opposite side of the wall from Vek to find an anchor for rope.

Glimble "I don't care how bad the smell we need to save the children. Let us not dally." the holy gnome says being of a child's size he takes this a bit personally. That or perhaps it is something more from his past that he has not yet shared with his friends.

Your right Gannon... we need to find some cleaner jobs.... she will whisper to him with a giggle.
Who's going first?

Well, it is stinky, but you guys descend slowly and carefully, using ropes down perhaps fifty feet and then you come out into a mold covered room, the walls and floors made of small bricks, the mortar long gone and everything feels shaky under your feet.
The is only one way to go (except back up, do you guys want to leave the rope in place or jiggle it loose?). You head through a makeshift tunnel which seems to connect old cellars or perhaps even old buildings. It is as if older sections of Waterdeep have sunk down into the wet earth here near to the sea and formed an Underground mirror of the city above...
Even though none of you are excellent trackers, it is easy to follow the main path. There are however, side passages from time to time, most are fairly unremarkable. Then you come to a spot where off the main tunnel expands up sharply into a large cavern of a room, the path continues forward unbroken, but off to your left there are the broken remains of several buildings, rough mostly smashed walls give the impression of jagged teeth in the low light. From somewhere in there, you see a soft eldritch glow, and the sound of giggles or soft whispers, and maybe the same person speaking in different accents rapidly?

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
Back in the thick of it, Vek's mind was mercifully distracted from his troubles and focused on the matter at hand.
That could be the electricity, Vek thought as he remembered what Wally had told him and Roseheart...
The grim warrior looked at Gannon and softly rasped, "Would you scout ahead, please?"

That could be the electricity, Vek thought as he remembered what Wally had told him and Roseheart...
Suppressing the violent urge to charge forward, ambush the child-nappers and slay them in a manner most satisfying, Vek knew they needed more information about the workings of this Goblin-Drow conspiracy. Wally's directions grew vague beyond this point.Darkmane wrote: " Goblin's, big hairy ones, had come up from there and jumped us. They drug us down into the sewers and throw some kind of passage in the wall to the left. They bound us and blindfolded us, but we went down some tunnels, and then they lowered us with ropes into a room, and there were strange electrical noises, like lightning! And then they took us through many rooms, and held us for two days before giving us to the dark elves. There was a human with them, a deep voiced man, he was in charge and we never saw him. Sorry, but that's all I know."

Ganon:
Nodding his head to Vek he move ahead of the party and lights a torch. He continues moving forward as quietly as possible scouting ahead of the group.

Cormack remains silent but keeps his eyes on the area where the voices and light are coming from.

Are you guys going to scout over near where the lights are, or watch carefully and then leave out the other exit of this large cavern?

Glimble despite his eagerness to save the children restrains himself from rushing off to slay child nappers. Remains calm and quiet, not even preparing to fire his loud weapon for once he is ready with the drow hand crossbow he recently kept from their last adventure.

Ganon will scout ahead towards the light.
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Ganon slips into the dark, nearly soundlessly. He heads over to where the eldritch lights are, finally peering at them from around a crumbling brick wall. There are two blue white semi-translucent shapes, ghosts! One is a lady in formalwear, her mouth moving as if she is reciting something but all that is coming out is a dread-full high wail. The other is a chubby man in street clothes and his face appears dirty or sooty. He is looking all about, coming in and out of view like static, and each time looking at something different. He is mumbling something just too low to be heard.
The debris all around him is threatening to reveal Ganon, but so far these sprits haven't noticed him. Ganon does know his companions are coming up from behind, and they aren't as quiet!

Roseheart scans the corridor as he passes staying bravely to the rear.
