Re: OOC

I'm sorry to hear that, Balto. I hope your father-in-law recovers quickly. We'll hold a spot for you.

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

Richard extended his pole arm to the next floor tile, while Miranda, Gurkidd, and Quinn steadied him. Richard pushed the tile down. Everyone held their breath. Nothing. "A little harder," Miranda grunted out. Richard pushed. Click He quickly retracted the pole arm. "Back, back" h...

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

The party backtracked, southwest this time, to the unexplored door. Richard prodded the floor with his pole arm. The party was about 20 feet from the door when Richard felt something loose on the floor. He raised his hand, and the party halted. "Nobody breath," Miranda said. She lowered he...

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

Quinn illuminated the globe and held it over the note. The light hit the paper, but no secret messages appeared. Upon closer inspection of the note, Quinn discerned that Fonkin -- or whoever was behind the note -- must have written the note in a hurry; the script seemed scratched onto the paper with...

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

The room in the eastern corridor on the southern wall behind us hasn't been explored yet. The corridor looked like a dead end, but there was a door back there. Right? That's correct. On Balto's map, it's the door between 5 and 7. Seems like you all want to double back to the door? *** Miranda ponde...

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

Miranda ignored Richard. She sheathed her bow and stepped out of the room. With a rag covering his face, Richard approached the sludge. The closer he got, the stronger the smell; the rag barely filtering the stench. His eyes started to water, and he felt a creeping sense of dizziness. Richard quickl...

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

Miranda pulled out her bow and knocked an arrow; the party drew back in alarm. She took a half-second breath and loosed the arrow. It flew across the room and crashed into the jug, splitting the receptacle into a dozen pieces. Dark sludge poured onto the floor. Miranda scrunched her nose from the st...

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

Miranda smirked at Richard. "I see no point in remembering names, knight" , she said, "You all might end up dead." The light from Quinn's torch poured into the room, revealing a holding cell. Chains and manacles hung from the walls. Large pieces of straw and hay lay scattered on ...

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

Miranda slid a hand across the large, metal frame of the eastern door and tapped the doorknob. Nothing. She dropped to the floor, trying to peak through whatever slit of space the door allowed from the floor. Darkness. She grabbed the door handle and pulled. The door didn't budge. She dropped her ba...

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

Eris wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2024 3:58 am From Nemesis' description, I think the door is facing the wrong direction. He said "south-facing", although facing north-facing, like you have it, makes more sense.

Clarification, please.
Balto's party position and surrounding doors on the map are correct

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

The party headed north -- (about 20 feet) -- arriving at a bend in the hallway that turned west.

To the east is a locked door. Twenty feet to the west is a south-facing door.

The hallway continued for a little past that.

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

Richard crouched, leaning his head close to the floor. It was slightly dusty, but through the flickering of the torchlight, Richard could see faint impressions of footprints. He leaned even closer and saw, among the impressions, a set of footprints smaller than the rest, heading north.

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

The party doubled-backed north, passed the skeleton into a section of hallways. The party slowed as they approached a fork in the way: About 40 feet to the west there is a north-facing door; 20 feet to the north, the wall split to more darkness to the west and a west-facing door to the east. Where d...

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

Miranda stared at Richard quizzically. She stroked her chin as she pondered for a moment. She snapped her fingers. "Yes, I have just the thing." She removed her shoulder pack and dropped onto the stone floor. She crouched and dug into the bag. A few seconds later, she pulled out a 10-inch ...

The case exploded into pieces of glass spread across the floor near the counter. There are some shards big enough to pocket, should you decide to do that.

Re: Quest #1 - The Search for Fonkin

Miranda approached the counter with the scroll case. She crouched and leaned close to it. A faint ringing hit her ears. The sound grew louder, and louder, and louder. She realized it came from the case. "Cover your eyes and ears!" A blinding light flashed from the case. Then an ear-splitti...
