Re: Scenario Post-Mortems

I can't really add much to what the others have already shared. I've not played Basic D&D or AD&D in a long time, so I can't comment on how Knave compares to them. I do like the mechanics, especially having the option to flip between player facing rolls and NPC rolls with almost no impact to...

Re: Knaves, OOC

They are the ones who called for a truce and they are trying to keep all the goods. We could try to negotiate and hopefully get something out of this. Maybe we could keep our weapons and a horse for getting Sara to safety? The angle being they managed to get away with the box, carriage, and a horse....

Right! I was thinking the same thing. :)

Re: Encounter 01: The Highwayman

Stratford Mumbles, "You should consider finding another area to stalk. If the towns folk are brazen enough to hire drunk adventurers I wouldn't put it past them to send law men next. It may be good for business to boot. The locals are starting to avoid this route." He continues tending to...

What would we roll to try to prevent Northland from bleeding out?

Re: Encounter 01: The Highwayman

Stratford

Grasping at his fresh wound, Stratford keeps his sword at the ready, but glances over at Northland's still body in a pool of blood. He cautiously makes his way over to her and while glancing at the bandit, he kneels down to check her for signs of life.

Re: Knaves, OOC

Yeah, what Rex said. I think this has been a pretty good feel for combat. So far, from a player perspective, I think I like the player facing rolls for defense vs. the NPCs rolling. I'm partial to that style of play anyway. The stunts thing is interesting and I may explore that more on my own. I lik...

Re: Encounter 01: The Highwayman

Stratford

Reeling from the slash attack, Stratford slashes at Bandit #1.

Attack: Sword: [1d20+2]=14+2=16 Damage: [1d8]=1
Defense: Defense: [1d20+1]=6+1=7

I'm guessing Stratford is not going to fair well this round. :)

I knew that Knave was deadly, but damn! One more round and we'll know who the victors are. :)

Stratford Stratford raises his sword to try and parry the attack Defend 1: Defense: [1d20+1]=10+1=11 Defend 2: Defense: [1d20+1]=19+1=20 Assuming Stratford survived the swipe attack After Wytt's move, Stratford thrusts his sword at Bandit #1. Sure, it is up to you. I'll just have Stratford attack again after you describe what Wytt is doing.

Re: Knaves, OOC

Rex, were you thinking about trying a stunt or attacking this razor clawed critter? Stratford already landed a good hit, so maybe Wytt should get the spotlight to start this next round and Stratford will follow his lead?

Re: Encounter 01: The Highwayman

Following the others lead, Stratford joins Wytt and charges Bandit #1, drawing his sword on the run and thrusting it at the bandits midsection. Sword: [1d20+2]=15+2=17 Damage: [1d8+2]=8+2=10 Woah! Stratford had a pretty good first attack. Please let me know if I got the rolls wrong. Stratford has St...

Stratford looks around warily and in a low voice says, "I've not seen any archers yet. Perhaps they're hiding in the trees?" He then raises his voice as he takes a couple steps forward with Wytt, "We've got nothing of value. [Burp] We're just on our way through after a night of revel...

Stratford is shaken out of a hungover daze when the cart stops and he hears the voice. He shimmies his way out of the cart, squints and looks around for the source. He mumbles to himself while looking around, "Whose brilliant idea was this?"

Re: Encounter 01: The Highwayman

Stumbling out of the tavern shouting, "Come my friends, this hooligan has met his match!" Stratford's long unkempt mohawk is flying around his head and getting caught in his numerous piercings. He trips over a spittoon, knocking it off the porch, then falls into a column barely catching hi...

Re: Knaves, OOC

I've been curious about the character gen process for Knave since I got the rules a while ago, so I went through it. I took what it gave me, which wasn't too bad. Honestly, after this experience, I'd just use a random char gen tool next time and bang on refresh until I found something that I liked.

Stratford Stratford is on the heavier side, some say flabby . His face is slightly round with soft edges, but features artistic piercings in his ears, nose, and eyebrows. The sides of his head are shaved and he has a long mohawk that hangs shaggily around his head. His clothing is layered and fraye...

Re: Scenario Simulator (All the Rules!)

This is an awesome way to test systems out and for people like me who are thinking about running something but are a little hesitant to dive into something more involved. I've got a few games that I wouldn't mind running through the scenarios to see how they play. Depending on how that goes, I'd pro...
