Re: Chapter 25: Tooth and Claw

Torix slowly and quietly approaches the riverbank. The many fish should attract predators-- such as himself-- whether walking, flying, or even swimming. And even more fearsome predators of predators. He takes time and care to harvest only adult fish, the ones big enough to have bred at least once b...

Re: Paladin - Have Gun, Will Travel

Paladin feeds one shell past the rifle's spring-loaded loading plate into the receiver, cocks the lever, and takes aim at the galloping rider. The range is the same, because as you said, movement happens after shooting. GM error during previous turns: Per p. 25 of the rules, in this situation the sn...

Re: Chapter 4: Strange Pursuit

The Bouchards listen to DT's tale with rapt attention. Mark and Steven get a big kick out of the "Pooping Puppy" nickname. Older brother Steven says to Mark, That's your Indian name. Chief Poopin Puppy. Mildred Bouchard says, Y'all boys stop that potty talk! Mark says, Those Comanches got ...

DT gets 20 XP for the tale of Growling Dog/Pooping Puppy told at the Bouchard residence just south of the Colorado River. All of the PCs get 2 XP for the comfortable stay and wholesome dining. Please record your XP on your character sheets.

Re: Chapter 4: Strange Pursuit

Bouchard shakes DT's hand and says, Pleased to meet ya, DT. I appreciate the offer to help out here, but anything we'd start now we'd be in the middle of when we run out a light. I'll take ya up on the offer if ya pass this way again someday. And we'll watch out for your friend. Let me go inside inf...

Re: Chapter IV - Comancheria (Charlie & Ezekiel)

The scouts were headed west to Camp Clark, near the border with Mexico. (Sorry, it was formerly Camp Hudson, but in 1873 it's name is Camp Clark). The wagon train is headed northwest, to Camp McKavett. Both are on one of the Comanche war trails into Mexico. But Camp Clark is in Apache territory, an...

Re: What would YOU like to play or run? (Interest Catch-all)

The information on Usurper Claim to Power doesn't provide much about how the large-scale politics system (if any) works. It does say that PCs can command armies. Are there any rules about nation vs. nation? Or does anyone have a recommendation for that kind of RPG system?

Re: Chapter IV - Comancheria (Charlie & Ezekiel)

Here are some things Army veterans Ezekiel and Charlie know. -The saying "Generals are usually fighting the last war again" is pretty true of the U.S. Army in 1873. The last war was the Civil War, which involved large bodies of infantry meeting and fighting each other head on, supported b...

Reroll.[1d6]=5
Another, for just in case it's needed. [1d6]=6
(Maybe we should roll a few each time to have backups for ties).

Using the numbers on the map above, please let us know where Fuma climbed the wall. If he wants to cross the yard, please let us know his destination. Fuma has the poisoned blowgun darts. The weapons range is Fuma's Health ST (4) x the 3 lengths of the blowgun, so 12 yards. The top of the map has i...

Re: Chapter 25: Tooth and Claw

Having startled the giant bear, Torix averts his eyes to the ground, not looking it in the eye. He holds the Atlantean spear across his chest, so that it and his short bow slung over his shoulder form the shape diagonal cross. He hopes they together give the illusion of making him look bigger. "...

(A side detail in case anyone may be interested. Torix's Pictish is the language of Yap, a little group of islands in Micronesia where I was a Peace Corps Volunteer a long time ago).

Re: Paladin - Have Gun, Will Travel

Paladin sees his shot nick the fleeing rider's lower back. The turns his horse from the northeast to the east, perhaps not happy with being shot at from his complete blindside. Or he may be riding for a group of live oaks around 200 yards away. Or both. The boy continues galloping to the west, addin...

Re: Paladin - Have Gun, Will Travel

It will take around 2 minutes for the train to reach 0 mph. In the past 12 seconds it has slowed to 16 mph. It's moving just a couple of mph slower than the good horses. Range to the target is now 76 yards. Paladin sees his bullet clip the galloping, evading man's left shoulder. The robber rides on...

Re: But Shadows (ooc and questions Vl)

Does Torix have an options for saving his barbarian Pictish hide? For example are their any cliffs or high cliffs he can climb? I assume there are plenty of trees he can climb.
