Re: Scroll 1 - The Master Craftsman's Tea Vessel

Where did Jinsei climb over, and what route?

How exposed would Minoru be on the top of the wall?

I think I do want to be on the wall so he can easily signal Kaida if things go pear shaped.

Re: Character Creation

Since we already have an Elf Fighter (Ranger) (which was also my idea...) I'll stick with Human Fighter (Knight).

What are my next decisions (I'm not really familiar with 5e...).

Re: Character Creation

For old school D&D, I'm a roll first, 3d6 down the line, work up concept later. On my second try (to get at least one 14 or higher), I got: 282336 Using the Unseen Servant Sheet, I've got this to start 10105 So, from that, Human Fighter. With the decent CHA, I'm thinking a knightly/noble backgro...

Re: OOC Chatter

I'm in. I think I'll create a new PC though. I realized I'm already running a Dwarf Fighter/Thief (AD&D 1e) in another online game (not here).

Tell me what forum to go to and how to roll up and I'll see what I get...

Re: Scroll 1 - The Master Craftsman's Tea Vessel

Is there a tree that would serve well as a lookout point, or do I need to find a roof? Perching atop the wall seems too visible.

Re: Scroll 1 - The Master Craftsman's Tea Vessel

Did we establish likely stats for dogs re: poisons?

I think Minoru should be in a position of lookout, he probably has the highest Wit save for Perception of Hidden Things.

Re: Scroll 1 - The Master Craftsman's Tea Vessel

As to the dog, Minoru has fast level 5 narcotic, and fast level 3 paralytic.

I'm not sure what the strength or speed of a dog would be as to how fast that would work.

Minoru is not great with a blowgun (BCS 5) and is better with shuriken (BCS 9).

Re: Scroll 1 - The Master Craftsman's Tea Vessel

I think it makes sense for Minoru to sneak in concert with the others.

I forget, does his role include being sort of the lookout?

Re: 0004 The Dragon's Citadel

Hermundr will examine the table and the tools. Is the hammer usable as a weapon? If the tools are in good shape, Hermundr will take them (never know when a chisel might help).

He will also evaluate the construction and state of the room.

Hermundr will have his great axe in hand, unless the space is too small, in that case, the hammer.

Re: OOC Discussion

Something to really consider for old school games is to reduce repeated rolls. Burning Wheel has "Let it Ride" that says that if the conditions have not substantially changed for a skill application, to keep the result of the last roll and not roll again. I have applied that to my old scho...

Re: OOC Discussion

I really struggling to stay engaged with this campaign, it might be better for the campaign for me to drop out. I do enjoy Bushido despite not really having really very little exposure to the genre through media, but it does leave me often struggling with how to react to things. Add to that some fru...

Re: Scroll 1 - The Master Craftsman's Tea Vessel

If we have to pass by three times, is there an alternate route for the third time? Round trip won’t be suspicious since everyone has to go to the registrar’s office and back. But a third trip later in the day might arouse more suspicion.

Minoru will accompany Kaida.

Re: Scroll 1 - The Master Craftsman's Tea Vessel

Are we in danger of one of those old school roll until you fail situations? Might it be worth considering the "Let it Ride" rule from Burning Wheel? I've given though to that when running my old school games, and at least reduced the calls for rolls even if I don't let a single roll stand.

Re: Scroll 1 - The Master Craftsman's Tea Vessel

277671 Minoru easily passes. Note that his pious layman is Shinto, not buddhist, so actually he probably can pretty easily look the part of a Shinto traveling priest (was my original idea) or at least a priest (assistant maybe) coming into the big city to purchase specialty items for the shrine or ...
